Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua and Terence Crawford: Sanctioned Champions

By Tris Dixon - It used to be winning a world title that was the hardest thing to achieve. Now it is hanging on to them. Of course, case in point is Terence Crawford, the world's premier junior-welterweight who recently, somehow, managed to join all the dots to become a unified champion an all too rare occurrence...

Luis Ortiz vs Joshua would not be a ho hum contest. It's much preferable to a fight against Pulev.

Apart from that glaring mistake I agree with the rest of the article.

IBF are a terrible org. "Oh but they enforce their mandatories" a few people say but the fact is they often have poor ranking lists and they allow Lipinets promoter to pull stunts like they did this past week. Didn't they get Fury stripped first? They also served up Wade for Golovkin which was a waste of a fight

I personally find this article insulting to the American UNDISPUTED lineal champion Terance Crawford to have a picture of Anthony Joshua in the header as the article begins with BUD as the prime example to the point that the writer is trying to make:

Also Terence Crawford shouldnt even been used in this crap article titled ' Sanctioned Champion ' he is UNDISPUTED! LINEAL!!! the article instead should read as follows : Anthony Joshua ' Paper Champion '.

Pure trash and a waste of time, the hardcore dont care for paper champions and are not worried about belts we know who the man is without any organization shinning a little trinket in my face to convince me on who is the real champion of the world in their respective weights!!! **** off!

You're just salty AJ is the man in the HW division. And your post reads just like that.

Diddums. Maybe if Wilder started fighting real fighters not cans people might talk about him too?

The writer is as dumb as you are -- maybe dumber. You don't become the man beating a active HOF who just took a L coming out of retirement idiot.

You don't become the man by fighting nobodies.

You don't become the man by ducking Dillian Whyte.

You certainly don't become the man by beating fat-ass Stiverne who got that title after it was VACATED!! Beat the man who beat the man? No that never happened. Vitali retired so the ONLY legacy Wilder has is beating Stiverne who beat Arreola. That's who you've got as the man? You can spin it any way you want but that's the facts right there.

              AJ is the man- period.

Hell even Fury is above Wilder and he's not even fighting!

This is a very good article, and describes the current boxing landscape well, with respect to how difficult the sanctioning bodies are becoming when a unified champion emerges. GGG has been on the 'I want all belts' bandwagon for years, yet it seems there has been very little effort to make a very exciting fight between BJS and Golovkin.
Same can be said for the 175-pound division, where a little man does the bare minimum to hold on to his precious WBC title.
This is not a new problem and is highlighted by the only long reigning modern unified champion Mike Tyson, who, because everybody was making truckloads from, was given all the time in the world to play with his three belts.

Sanctioning bodies are nothing but a business, like Delta, Best Buy, McDonald's, but only that they're private, that's the only difference. They're not for the good of the people/boxers or to advance boxing.

You are clueless to how lineage works in boxing so I am wasting my time having a dialog with a cretin such as yourself.

Your kind is the reason Eddie Hearns sells out Wembley, a simpleton gullible baboon like the writer of this article! go to the lounge you have no business here.
