I'm actually surprised so many have RJJ in their top 10. I thought it was only me lol. I can't have someone I saw with my own eyes as the best in their prime and not have him top 10.

I think he is top 25 but not top ten

        Robinson
        Ali
        Armstrong
        Leonard
        Ezzard
        Are always my top 5.

Then guys like Langford, grebs, Moore, etc

I would have Roy Jones higher than Floyd

He was the most physically gifted fighter I have ever seen. When his reflexes went he got KOed because he wasn't as sound fundamentally as he needed to be.

Mayweather comes near enough directly after, 11 - 15 bracket
For my edification, explain Armstrong, Charles, and Walker.

                1. Floyd
                2. Ali
                3. Joe Louis
                4. Robinson

Popularity/visibility is EXTRemely important. The Entire Planet knew Joe Louis was champion, so he had the entire planet gunning for his title.

same with Floyd, Everyone knew he was the man to beat since 2007 and no one was able to knock him off his perch for nearly a decade.

Roy Jones Jr is the best fighter ever and it isn't close. In his prime he was so good it is ridiculous.

I hate to play the numbers game but I think Mayweather is a unique boxer. He is so good at game planning, adjusting, and finding ways to win. He doesn't get full credit because he makes it look so easy that by the time the fight is over people actually wonder if there was any competition in the first place. It doesn't matter where you have him in your list, history will judge him accordingly.
