Why was Margarito considered a hard puncher and Mayweather feather fisted?

Floyd came from 130 fighting the best and beating them all the way up to 154 and the other cheated his way to the top and was later exposed as having "zero" power without plaster wraps at 147 and 154. Scumbag

You're right, there are fighters who carry their power up in weight. But most don't. Floyd did not.

For the purposes of the fight between Margarito and Floyd at WW, Floyd was featherfisted, and Margarito was heavy handed.

Neither did Margarito. So the feather fisted Mayweather and the heavy handed Margarito are more alike when it comes to being KO artist than you care to admit. I guess I would give Margarito the edge at WW but not by much.

No point arguing with him, I feel like his stubbornness is not going to allow him to see another point of view on this. The guy who made similar points on the first page, basically shut the thread down.

I also agree with all the people saying Margarito was not a huge puncher, he was pretty heavy handed (hand wraps to one side) and that coupled with his volume got him a good % of stoppages AT 147lbs. More than Floyd, and he's definitely a bigger puncher.

Floyd is not feather fisted, that is a straw man argument his detractors use. Margarito is not and has never been known as a huge puncher, more like an above average puncher who will wear you down with volume.
