They're saying no "regular" title will be created, so what the heck did they just do?

The WBA "super" title is supposed to be an honour for WBA title holders who are also unified champions, and Indongo was a unified champ, so how come Crawford didn't become "super" champ automatically by beating him?

This makes no sense to me, but heck .. that's the alphabet boys for you.

They're returning to the original intention of a super champion, which was later copied by the WBO.

By declaring Crawford a super champion, he will now be given additional time to make his mandatory defenses. But they won't be crowning a separate world champion to make those mandatory defenses for him like had been recent policy. There will just be one champion, but he'll have twice as long to make his mandatory defenses.

This was a weird addition to the end of the article

The Mendoza Family has separated the name of Mr. Gilberto Mendoza, President Emeritus of the World Boxing Association (WBA), from the National Children’s Championship of Venezuela, for not having been consulted for such cause. This was expressed by Gilberto Jesus Mendoza, current President of the WBA.
In addition, Mendoza clarified that the WBA only recognizes Fran López as the President of the Venezuelan Boxing Federation (Fevebox) and Executive Committee Member of AIBA, until the situation of the institution is clarified and AIBA endorses the decision.
Gilberto Jesus Mendoza is in Hamburg for the AIBA World Boxing Championships and will hold a meeting with President Ching-Kuo Wu.

Give Crawford more time to make his mandatory defense.

Crawford had cleaned up the division. It's time to move up, take 1 0r 2 tune up fights in welterweight, then fight the elite and make welter more exciting!

The elite are with Haymon. He won't be fighting the elite.

Do the WBA have a rule saying a super champion gets twice as long in between mandos as a "none-super" champ, for want of a better term?

WBA champions have a mandatory due every nine months in every division except heavyweight, where the mandatory is due every twelve months.

These obligations are obviously selectively enforced, depending on how well known the fighter is and how well connected their promoter or manager is.

When the WBA created super champions, the rule was that they'd have to defend against the world champion every 18 months, while the world champion would face the #1 contender every nine months.

However, in recent years, the WBA has given themselves more wiggle room. The current version of the rules allows the WBA to make things up as they go along in terms of how long the super champion has to make a mandatory defense, although they still typically have twice as long.

Personally, I'd like to see this next...

Move up to 147, SOON. Fight Danny (and win), fight Porter (and win); Spence and Thurman fight, Crawford fights the winner.
