From what I understand, Showtime is doing this because its services weren't the providers that had the most significant issues. Apparently the UFC fight pass buyers had a larger number of people who filed complaints.

I doubt the suit goes beyond simple restitution (via settlement)

I don't think it has anything to do with that they had no choice it's pretty cut and dry their entire UFC.tv app crashed literally no one who used it was able to watch the ppv. They were getting destroyed on social media Dana white was in hiding. It was bad business to have folks with pitch forks threatening to boycott and they would of spent countless more money in court fees and settlement payout. Once showtime cavecave they looked even worse. Had no choice but to follow suit. But it will end up costing them 10s if not hundreds of millions.
