Floyd Mayweather damaged boxing for his own gain.

Conor McGregor held his own for 10 rounds. In the end he was defeated by a lack of stamina. Boxing fans can no longer say, "if an MMA fighter comes to boxing he will be destroyed", etc. But if a boxer goes to MMA he will be destroyed no doubt. Thanks to Floyd this has been made all the more clearer.

He didn't damage boxing at all. He let Conor get his shots off and waited for him to tire to finish him. If he damaged boxing then leave this site

Boxing will one day recover from the Floyd era. Canelo/GGG is a step forward and should help clear out the Mayweather stink that was left behind. Up and coming talent like Loma, Mikey Garcia, Crawford, Spence, Joshua, will resurrect the sport from the circus that was Mayweather. I doubt his promotion company prospers for very long. Gervonta will prove to be a bust, and the future of boxing looks brighter now that Mr. 50-0 is retired. At least until he runs into IRS and ******** problems again 3-5 years from now.

Held his own for 3 rounds. Got beat up for 6 out of the next 7. He won the 8th shockingly but that was more because Floyd was recklessly walking him down.

This post makes absolutely no sense. You think boxing got hurt because of what people might say about an MMA fighter coming to boxing again?

You have been here longer than most so I assume you are a diehard, real boxing fan. If anything, Floyd showed the world that while MMA is a growing business, it is inferior to boxing.

He also reminded the US public the 2 biggest events in ANY year are the Super Bowl and a big, major fight. This proved boxing's superiority to MMA in every way, shape and form.

What Floyd exposed is the fact that Conor has done a better job of making himself a household name than any other pro fighter not named Floyd. What he also showed is boxers, no matter their skills, need to find a way to connect with fans and market themselves to the casual fan.

Boxing has been the primary discussion topic on mainstream sports twice in the last 2 years. both instances it was a Floyd fight. In the Floyd era, boxing has gone from exclusively premium cable back to regular TV and non premium cable. Yes, the PPV model isn't fan friendly but maximizing revenue is something occuring in every sport-be it PPV or seat licenses.

I hope you will think about your position some more.

I think this was actually the most positive viewing experience people had watching Floyd in his whole career & for sure since Cotto probably.

Its was Floyds version of rope a dope are you saying? Floyd deliberately looked bad to tire connor out?
What if connor didnt tire and continued to punch floyd from the 4th round onwards? This isnt africa with 40degrees centigrade.

Cant you just accpet connor was better than we thought. Floyd already admitted that.

"Floyd as a retired 40 year old fighter who hadn't fought in years knocked out a bigger, stronger man in his physical prime". Yeah boxing sure is dead isn't it?
