Idk how straight up boxing smart his trainers are cuz I've not seen them talk all that much about boxing & you never know much about a guy when they got "that one guy" & thats about it. Sometimes a guy is just that f#cking good & he's that f#cking good without anyone doing more than showing him the basics of boxing which one could do via a 1910 Jack Dempsey book on the basics of boxing. The thing I do know is his trainer is supposedly the basis of the character of Cutty from the Wire.
LOL yea true that could end up going north or south I guess. My sense is that Tank is at his core a competitive guy, which is something I feel Broner actually lacks at the highest levels, so it'd be a good thing for him, but maybe I'm incorrect. Maybe Tank just wants to be friends with his opponents too or whatever is in Broner's head.In terms of him losing, that would either light a fire under his ass or do nothing at all (a la Adrien Broner).Comment

People still saying Loma is a bum and hypejob after his 1 loss to Salido. That's why Gervonta can't afford losing. Even 1 loss is lethal to boxing career nowadays
On the other hand, Broner gets 40 mil contracts after losing two times, and still able to attract attention after third loss, so who knowsComment

Whatever with dumb fans who write guys off after a L. I think L's help guys get better more than hurt wayyyyyy more often then not.People still saying Loma is a bum and hypejob after his 1 loss to Salido. That's why Gervonta can't afford losing. Even 1 loss is lethal to boxing career nowadays

It used to be that people didn't think you could know how good a guy was til he loss. Now you're either undefeated & the best or have 1 or more L & suck & should retire lol. I don't buy that last bs even if a lot of boxing fans these days seem to or seem to believe something close to that.
To me undefeated means untested or unproven most of the time & it means you're the best seldom.Comment

Surprised that was the first time lots of people have watched him. That fight seemed very out of character from all the other fights i've seen of him.
That said, it may not be out of character for how he is as a person. Him and Floyd had a bit of a spat in the past because Floyd said Davis had too many distractions out of the ring and wanted him in Vegas to train.Last edited by TheBigLug; 08-30-2017, 05:48 AM.Comment

I understand all of that, but if you want to sell Gervonta to casual audience he has to have the aura of invincibility, like Tyson, Pac or Floyd had. Gervonta don't have the charisma of Pac or Mayweather though - doesn't matter if it's positive or negative one - if you can't make people love you, make them hate you then, that works for your marketability. I mean, people talking about Gervonta being a future star but it's hard to promote a guy with losses in the resume, that's ****** but that's how it works out here. The team has to make up their mind if they want a good boxer who's gonna learn the lesson after taking L or they want to develop him into starWhatever with dumb fans who write guys off after a L. Well idk that Tank can become THAT big anyway & thats largely cuz he's a lil guy. No lil guy has become a superstar til they've gotten to 147lbs & I personally think Tank taps out at 135 or 140/max with his success. So if Tank is on some Floyd sh^t he'll not be a superstar til he's fighting in the lowest weight division people care about which is 147.I understand all of that, but if you want to sell Gervonta to casual audience he has to have the aura of invincibility, like Tyson, Pac or Floyd had. But overall point taken with the lack of charisma requiring a sexy undefeated record, ideally with a nice KO ratio, to make one a superstar.Comment
