Everybody ages differently, and Floyd's fighting style relied heavily on quickness of his hands, feet and his endurance. All of that movement of his body and his feet takes a lot of energy. Floyd is just a 40-year-old man now. No shame in that. Some fighters are past their prime at 30. BHop is a rarity continuing past 40, because his boxing IQ is so high. He could slow fights down to a crawl and fight at a slow pace with movement and defense. But eventually he declined. Age slows everyone down.

If you honestly believe Floyd has not shown signs of slowing down for a while, you're crazy. He's been past his prime for a while, but especially diminished over the past three or four fights. His last great fight was against Saul Alvarez in 2013. McGregor wasn't in the ring with a prime young fighter.

And to be honest, McGregor took the first three rounds against Mayweather, something a bunch of fighters have done. Mayweather is a notorious slow starter who takes over fights in the middle and dominates the end.

And let's be real, Mayweather hasn't KO'd anybody above 147 before, and that was almost a decade ago, not counting Ortiz (Ortiz was basically just dumb and let his guard down looking at the ref).

Did Floyd look 30 years old fighting McGregor? He didn't spar for a month leading up to the fight because his hands are brittle like wet paper mache. Does that sound like a 30 year old fighter? He only fights in Nevada because it's one of the few states that allows to him to take his hand injections. Does that sound like a 30 year old fighter? The wear and tear had been done to his body. 20 years of training and fighting at the highest level will eventually wear you down no matter how good of shape you stay in. Was also coming off a two year layoff which obviously effected his timing, timing is very important to a counter puncher like Floyd. Ring rust is the only reason Conor was able to land that uppercut early

He looked really old vs Berto too. I think the Madaina fights accelerated his aging, but he was able to give one last great effort vs Pacquaio. Floyd is a realist, he retired at the right time and it took $300+ Million against a safe opponent to get him to fight, that opportunity will never present itself again.

But this excuse that Floyd is 40 and that's why Conor was countering Floyd so easily in the early rounds is bull****.

Foreman ko'd Moorer for the title at 45 years old. Hopkins won a world title at 46.

Floyd doesn't drink or smoke which is the #1 cause of physical deterioration. He's also taken the least amount of punishment for the amount of fights that he has of any boxer ever. In terms of boxing years, Floyd is 30 years old at most.

No excuses for his failure to stop Conor in the early rounds. He got schooled in the early rounds by a slicker athlete.
Moorer was winning the fight by a mile before iirc?Hopkins had not be off 2 years... end thread.

Ps....swizzy is a pole smoker name.

Sharmba came in at 145½. His 10 previous fights were at 140ish, except the Smith fight.

Hatton also came in at 145. So not above 147 either. And Hatton fought almost all his fights at 140.

Yah, at 147. Hatton in 2007. Let's be real. Foyd does not have KO power above 140. He has power you need to respect, but he's not a heavy hitter. McGregor is basically a middleweight, based on how he came into the ring.

Only someone who hasn't followed his career or know how to properly analyze a fighter would say something that ridiculous. Not smoking or drinking has benefited Mayweather but that doesn't take into account the rigorous training and sparring sessions his body has had to endure throughout the years.
