And Lemieux had a title shot fall in his lap with Saunders after Kurtz got arrested he became the next WBO top contender. And he turned it down saying he had a bigger fight in the works. Somebody is telling Lemieux and Rafael this fight is happening.

After the Kamegai fight during the interview I didn't hear Roach or Cotto mention Lemieux at all. Canelo and Triple G were mentioned.

But myself, I doubt a fight with Canelo, Golovkin or Lemieux happens for Cotto in December.

We shall find out though who is on the list and who is more likely to fight Cotto for his last fight.

I don't like this fight for Cotto at all. He'd get KO'd. Lemieux is a huge MW and would wear down Cotto.

Based on limited options due to recent retirements Marquez and Bradley.

And short turn around times between September 16th, October 14th till December 2nd. That may cancel out Canelo or GGG after their grueling fight and Trout fighting Hurd in October.

Brook was one of the names on the potential opponent list.

Kell Brook, Margarito 3, Matthysse @150, Khan @150

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out and who the candidates will be to fight Cotto in December. Stay tuned.

Is Canelo looking to fight in December (win or lose) & assuming he can of course cuz GGG could be a hard night win or lose? Or is Canelo on that 2 fight a year schedule for sure? If Canelo is ending his year in September than yea I suppose Davey is the fight.
... actually Cotto can't fight any of these two... he fought Canelo at 155 (him weighing in at 153 1/2)... I don't think Canelo can make 155 again...

Of Course He Did! He went silent when Jacobs was calling his name but he wants to fight the Small Old Guy! GBP will use Cotto as a stepping stone to build up Lemieux with the hopes of Canelo vs Lemieux in May a In House Fight for GBP

I prefer Cotto vs Kell Brook for his last as well!

Love Cotto. Big Lemieux fan (he lives 1 hour from me) but style wise a horrible match up for Cotto. Lemieux is naturally a much bigger man, hits hard, has a good chin. Lemieux likes those inside fights to I think he’d really hurt Cotto in exchanges and against the ropes. Cotto doesn’t have a lot of moves at 154 and 160, the big punchers pose a risk and the guys that can box and move pose a problem to.

You don't think Cotto would move up to 160 for Canelo money for his alleged last fight? I think he would.

You know well that Cotto is too small -- he couldn't even "move up" at 155 for their first fight (as he was (him weighing in at 153 1/2)...

Money vs weight. I predict Cotto choses money.

Its mainly a question if GBP & Canelo wanna fight him again. Thats the only question in my mind.

I guess it wouldn't surprise me if this fight was his last or if he takes another bs fight in December, but the move is Canelo or GGG. Those are the money fights for him. There is nothing at 154 thats pays well with the risk.
