I think you're overstating the impact (McGregor's ability no longer being a mystery, the novelty factor goes down on the Malignaggi fight), but it's still pretty clear that the conversation has definitely changed between McGregor and the UFC.

McGregor will likely fight again in December (McGregor-Diaz 3, at 155lbs, with or without the belt, is the only fight to make), but it's going to involve UFC and McGregor splitting the money after paying everyone else.

After that, McGregor likely takes an extended break, only coming back for fights that would be 'McGregor Sports & Entertainment' getting a big payday (GSP at a catchweight, whomever emerges from the Ferguson/Lee/Khabib shakeout, exciting scraps with Cerrone and Edgar if they can get on a roll, etc).

Once the money options dry up, McGregor walks off.

UFC shouldnt let Conor back in, it opens up a can of worms, Conor will demand more money and points, all the other ufc fighters will get jealous and start suing Dana and bringing up protests.

Dana best bet is let Conor fight in boxing and he co-promotes him, he can fight Paulie, bring old Mosley out of retirement and maybe he should try to face Cotto at 154 in December first? that will be Cottos last fight.

Conor is not going to take 3 million after receiving 30 million guarantee.

Conor even said I likes the boxing promotion more because its clean and centered around him only, in UFC Conor loses and he becomes a co main or a undercard fight, remember that happend to Chuck Liddell

he was their biggest draw and then lost 2 and fought on the undercard, in boxing you can lose and still main card a fight.

If Conor knockis out Paulie and claim he worked on stamina, he can fight some name fighters who are old and do that.

He can fight Antonio Margarito, Cotto, Mosley, even Chavez Jr. and draw.

but if he goes back to UFC he will have to take a massive cut in pay, and UFC will not give him big money because it opens a can of worms with other fighters who are living off scraps. it will show favortism and fighters are going to get jealous.

dana white made a big mistake letting conor box it only benefited conor not ufc, conor already tasted that boxing money, why would he go back to ufc, the only way he goes back to ufc is if ufc ups his guarantee to 10 million and ppv points

conor could easily fight paulie malignaggi and do 900k ppv buys and earn 20 million for that fight alone.

The reason dana doesn't ant conor back in boxing is becaue he has no more stars, jon jones is done, ronda is done, gsp nobody knows if he will draw probably do 400 to 500k buys ufc fans move on quickly so gsp could be hyped hard and not break a million

the only superfight dana had left was to put jon jones vs brock lesnar.

Conor lost his luster he couldn't even hurt floyd or mark him up with 8oz gloves.

i thought conor did well in the first couple rounds. I wasn't surprised he went ahead, floyd likes to get a good look at an opponent before he sets himself and i think given how much of an unknown quantity conor was, he really took his time and had a look.

So conor won the early rounds, but more by mayweather not really doing anything.

That being said, and give credit where it's due, conor looked sharper earlier. Floyd looked sloppy, his timing was off, no snap, no accuracy, no reflexes, and he couldn't find the distance against a much bigger and rangier opponent. The biggest surprise is how much he got tagged by mac's jab. Floyd just didn't look like his old self, even though you had a sense he was just feeling out the early rounds.

As well as conor did early, not many people are talking about just how bad floyd looked. That was the worst floyd i've seen, period. That was not vintage mayweather. So time to hang them up.

If conor was in there with someone like spence he'd have been lit up from the 1st round. Canelo would knock him clean out in the first 4 rounds.

So i'm not surprised dana doesn't want him to box again. What can he achieve? Floyd looked like garbage and still figured him out and walked him down with ease. While giving away a huge size advantage and age advantage.

this is looking more and more like a situation that is going to backfire on the ufc. Not only is conor in play but many others as well. There's going to be a slave rebellion over there.

that $30 million guaranteed purse he got last night could make other ufc guys start speaking up.... Maybe form a union finally...

It was a very evenly contested bout with Floyd struggling to figure out Mcgregors awkward style. He may have lost the bout but he proved he could compete at an elite level in boxing. If he had time to train his cardio more he could have got the decision. A rematch would be interesting and if Mcgregor wins it would set up the rubber match.

Conor is too old. It would be at least 3-5 years and then he would be around 35.

this was such a one sided sparring session/exhibition... for those of you (mainly MMA fans/millenials) who though McGregor had a chance.... get the f_ _k out of here... I've seen interviews and people including MMA commentators making incoherent statements such as "if McGregor wants to pursue a boxing career he could"... hahahhahahaha!!!! sure, even a gardener, plumber, carpenter, bouncer, DJ, congressman can pursue a career in boxing if they want.... and just like McGregor will ket Knocked the eff out every time.... I seriously do hope McGregor goes into boxing and faces the likes of Thurman, Canelo, GGG, Lemieux heavy handed boxers... they would put him to sleep in no more then two rounds.... MMA will never compare to boxing ever...I know MMA is the in thing now a days and a lot of idiots if not the majority want to be with the in thing... but if you want to be in the best condition of your life and really kick somebody's ass... train in a boxing gym...

Yes he did Dana. Yes he did, Conor did a great performance for a man who's having his boxing debut vs a supposed 49-0 fighter.
