Desperately trying to picture how Connor stands a chance and this is the best I can come up with;
Physically -Floyd is 40, been inactive and has had hand trouble. Not saying he is frail but at this age anything can happen on the night.
Technically -The two things that have seemed to cause Floyd most trouble is speed and unorthodox unconventional boxing. It appears Connor has them both and given his youth and size advantages he should be able to stick around for afew rounds. Not withstanding Floyd hasn’t knocked anyone out in years. Connor would have to be really chinny to get knocked out early vs Floyd.
Speed has troubled Floyd most noticeably against Mosley and particularly Zab Judah who like Connor throws the left hand from the southpaw stance straight down the pipe. This is a key weapon for Connor, be fast and use peculiar movement to make himself unpredictable. He cant learn everything he needs to know about boxing in these few months so he has to use his in experience to his advantage by confusing Floyd, making him uncomfortable and giving him something he hasn’t seen before.
It took Floyd afew rounds to assert his dominance over Hatton and I know that Ricky had a physical style unlike Connor but it shows when a guy is fresh Floyd doesn’t look as good early as he does late.
Maidana was as crude as they come but in the 1st fight he did well because Floyd couldn’t read him as easily as he could previous opponents. Connor will be throwing shots from strange angles and if he can keep it going he may get the benefit of the judging for initiating the action.
Floyd may take a couple of rounds to adjust to the timing and work Connor out but once he settles the fight is over. He wont make mistakes and wont take risks. Connor should gamble early to find success whilst he has the energy because as soon as Floyd finds his groove the opportunity will be gone. The cynic may say that the opportunity was never there is the first place. The best I can see Mcgregor doing is surviving the distance and shame on Floyd if he lets that happen
