Entirely different era, but more importantly, I'd bet you're clueless on the reality of Marciano, who he fought, the hassles he had with managers, etc etc. Floydie had a red carpet laid out for him almost from the start, and yes he fought his share of bums and gatekeepers too. Then later, fought a tiny JMM and outweighed him on fight night by 15-25 lbs... waited out Pac til he was a few steps below prime... sucker punched Ortiz... had Cortez in his pocket for Hatton... juiced for a bunch of fights... whined til Maidana had to wear pillows for gloves... geez the list is endless. Point being, I'll take a grizzled 50s legend over a pampered diva any day. And yes, this match should be just an exhibition. AND it cheapens the sport to make it anything besides an exhibition.

You can bet true fans will never recognize Floydie's b.s. record.

Some of floyd's "bums and gatekeepers" would be in the top 10 of marciano's 49.

            This is the truth.

His best wins were an old Jersey Joe Walcott, a blown up light heavyweight Ezzard Charles, and an old PLUS blown up light heavyweight Archie Moore.

No need to mention Joe Louis who was completely shot when they fought.

we know you only like black fighters but please don't downplay marciano's achievements and accomplishments.

just put it out in the open and admit that you don't like marciano 'cause he's white!

Entirely irrelevant. Nobody questions Mayweather's record other than bitter losers like you who form opinions of boxer's based on emotions. Not facts.

Too much is made of the record. Julio Cesar Chavez went way past 50-0 before losing, and Willie Pep was 62-0 before losing his first fight. Marciano was a great fighter and would be in any era. As for Mayweather, a great boxer but no way he's really undefeated, not after losing to Castillo in the first fight and debatable decisions against Oscar and Maidana (I).

Archie Moore was 39, Jersey Joe Walcott was 39 both times, and Joe Louis was 37. Not hating on the Roc but just saying.
