Cigarettes? The dude most likely puffs on cigars.
Does Rigondeaux really smoke cigarettes?

It’s not unheard of in boxing. Some of the old-timers used to smoke. My guess is they don’t smoke as heavy as you might imagine, probably once in a while. After dinner, with a drink, etc. I used to smoke pretty heavy years ago. My cardio wasn’t really affected until I got to a certain point, then it became intolerable. Depends on the individual, too. But I would say the occasional smoke doesn’t really impact cardio. People hear, “he smokes,” and immediately imagine a chain-smoker. I seriously doubt Rigo, or any other serious fighter, smokes that heavily.Comment

Nicolino Locche supposedly smoked a lot.
Numerous Argentine sources also cite the fact that Locche's approach towards submitting himself to traditional boxing training and discipline was sometimes lackadaisical. For example, Locche was a known habitual cigarette smoker throughout most if not all of his boxing career and his adherence to the strict dietary requirements of his trade was often quite flexible.
It used to be widespread in football. Croatian football player Robert Prosinečki smoke the red marlboros all the time
"He'd smoke before the game, at half-time in the showers and after the game as well. Red Marlboros, too. The real heavy stuff."
monzon was another smoker and a drunk, but inside the ring the man was the epitome of the 15 round fighter.Comment

I was fascinated when I found out that Carlos Monzon smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day. Ricardo Mayorga sure seemed to enjoy his smokes as well. What a wildman he was. It used to crack me up when a MLB player would return from his at bat a light up a cigarette. XDComment
