  • Comments Thread For: Why The Glove Size Means Absolutely Nothing For McGregor Against Mayweather

By Andreas Hale - Much has been made about the Nevada State Athletic Commission's decision to allow 8oz gloves to be worn by Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor ahead of their August 26th showdown in Las Vegas. The immediate reaction was that a smaller glove gives McGregor a significant advantage. McGregor himself stated that he fully expects to finish Mayweather inside of two rounds because of the distinct power advantage he thinks he will have when the two step into the ring...

Yeah idiots for supporting a guy who is about to be paid 100m to fight in a sport he's never competed in in his life. He's making at least 10 times more than the fighters who mock him in their sport, he's a much bigger star than the fighters who mock him and he's showed an acumen they could only dream off. McGregor will make more money next week than the vast majority of those fighters will make in their careers. Go tell the Yankees you've never played Baseball before but you'd like them to pay you a 100m for your first and only attempt, see what they say. McGregor is a genius to have put himself in this position, he can't lose. Not giving him a prayer is exactly what he wants, no expectation to win (even though he genuinely believes he will as all fighters do) and still will walk away with a check for 100m. If you can do that with your life then fine, 99.9% of the population can't. Personally I respect all fighters, it's probably the hardest living in sports and takes enormous balls to decide you're going to fight for a living. It takes a special kind of human being

" This is all ultimately yet another ploy that has the uneducated public believing that McGregor has a chance.....

..... Mayweather is grinning from ear to ear knowing that this concession isn’t really one at all......

..... these perceived advantages don’t really have much to offer when technique is key
            "

            and there it is.....

glad we no longer have to debate that topic

            I went further.....

when that fight was first announced, I said that Mayweather should fight McGregor in an octagon wearing 4oz MMA mitts

that would have ****** in a ton of punters

" oh wow, the octagon is Mac territory, and Conor is a killer with 4oz gloves, Mayweather doesn't stand a chance..... with no ropes, smaller protection, and those thunderous left hands from Mac..... Mayweather is dead meat "

because, Mayweather relies on using the ropes to win..... and he relies on blocking punches with his gloves to win..... and all of those other opponents who decked Mayweather were not wearing 4oz gloves

            right ?

most likely the only reason why Floyd did not agree to fight in an octagon wearing MMA mitts, in order to at least generate the appearance that the event would be a mixed boxing/MMA matchup..... is because he wanted it sanctioned as his 50th

I think that Mayweather would knock McGregor out early if he fought him in an octagon using 4oz MMA mitts

not hating Mayweather..... I just did not fall for the 8oz glove scam, and I know how he rolls

Every other generation or era do we have amazing combat athletes. This fight was a personal one and to remind the world of politics and racism.

So in theory, you could say McGregor is sacrificing himself to improve Floyd's legacy, not making Conor rich. When it's all said and done and we're all gone, Floyd did it way before Conor knew how to sell fights with his mouth, as Jack Johnson went to Ali, to Ali to Mayweather Jr....

Conor likes to say the "history books," sure, he's acknowledging being the sacrificial lamb for the biggest PPV bout ever in combat sports. Of course Conor is happy as foook.

McGregor was just a catalyst to make Floyd's legacy even greater considering how the public responds to it. Check YouTube comments. It's not hard to find racial comments and Trump upping from the videos promoting this fight.

              Nice old school alt

Jeezus Mirko you are the biggest Floyd cum guzzler on this entire motherf**king site, ain't ya.

Beating an 0-0 borderline amateur level novice is a legacy enhancer?

Damn dawg just come out of the closet already and admit that you don't have a job (with as much as you post there's no way you work) and that you stay barricaded inside beating off all day until you can't even get your **** up anymore to those Floyd posters you admitted you have

Lol. That doesn't make sense. Only a non intellectual doesn't see the benefits of this bout outside the analytics of general pugilism. Moreso, what does it even matter for these facts?

Do you guys really think Floyd wanted Conor because it's "challenging."

A lot of you are just soft men. People say Conor is a genius for banking on this fight so therefore what does that make Floyd, the original PPV king.

                    It's called denial.
