He was never going to be on the undercard because they were waiting on a title shot for the WBO belt against Pacquiao in the fall. They like everyone else figured he would beat horn and if he did then WBO was going to make Matthyssee his mandatory next or vacate. Problem is he got upset and has a rematch first but the winner will have to fight Lucas.

Yup his win over Taylor early this year got him a high ranking for the WBO belt. They wanted to wait till after the Pacquiao fight to get their mandatory shot. If everything worked out his title shot could of been ordered this fall. Why take a risk of him losing in sept when he could of gotten a title shot in oct. Nobody thought Pacquiao was going to lose to horn. But that's the risk when you wait around for these ****** ABC orgs. Spence was in the same situation on the shelf almost a full year waiting for the brook mandatory. Fought bundu last aug then finally fought brook this may. Couldn't take another fight as brook and IBF dragged their feet because if he loses an in between fight there goes his mandatory.

I'm telling you what the plan WAS it is out the window now because Pacquiao lost and is stuck in a rematch with horn. They were holding Lucas off the canelo Sept under card because they were waiting till the Pacquiao fight was over and seeing if the WBO would make him mandatory later this fall. He's fighting again later this year but if they knew Pacquiao was going to lose no doubt they would of put him on the undercard. That horn fight put them in a holding pattern for the WBO title shot just like brook fighting GGG put Spence career on hold.

It was rumored he was going to fight Jessie Vargas. I seen a video the other day with Jessie in it saying he has an October date with a big name for all the fans. If I were a betting man Id bet we get Vargas vs. Mattysse in October on ESPN.
