Comments Thread For: Sanchez: Canelo Best Counter-Puncher, Not Biggest Puncher for GGG

Abel Sanchez is sure Gennady Golovkin has fought bigger punchers than Canelo Alvarez. The man who trains Golovkin believes Curtis Stevens and David Lemieux both possessed superior power when they challenged Golovkin in middleweight title fights. The unbeaten Golovkin stopped Stevens and Lemieux, despite the danger they presented.

Daniel Jacobs would like a word with you, I also think Jacobs beats the dog shh out of Canelo personally but that's just my opinion.

Abel has been coming out with a few dodgy comments lately, but I think he's spot on with that opinion and he'll be basing GGG's game plan on it.

I think Golovkin is working on avoiding counterpunches, or countering the counterpunches. That is the main task, I think.

Daniel Jacobs is clearly the best boxer GGG has faced he has way more lateral movement than Canelo and certainly hits harder

i agreed. but then again you dont need power if you can counter it at the right time. i have a feeling canelo might hurt ggg with a shot he doesnt see and will end it if this happens. other than that i see ggg winning this fight.

I agree with this. I don't think you'll ever see Canelo in there with Jacobs. Lemieux vs Canelo would be interesting but I doubt we'll ever see these two stablemates in there together either.

The biggest puncher in the division is David Lemieux. He looks out of shape, small and doesnt have muscles but you can clearly see he hits very hard. He is the only boxer Golovkin refused to trade with.

GGG's stick (jab) will neutralize Canelo's counter punching ability. That's why Ginger is going to have to fight/punch and not counter punch his way to a victory, by hopefully either hurting and stopping GGG in this bout. Other than that he will become a sitting duck for Gennady, because he throws punches without ceasing.

Moreover, he has to at least double his normal punch output and work rate too. He is going to have work on his stamina and throw punches in high volume in order to make it a battle of attrition. Just landing single, clean and accurate punches at a time is not going to get the job down like it did in his previous fights.
