DISGRACE to boxing - a little perspective.

Mike Tyson - Bit off chunks of Evander Holyfield's ears, served three years for ****, tried to break Frans Botha's arm in the ring, generally conducted himself like a degenerate for years.

    Disgrace.

Ricardo Mayorga - Told Cory Spinks he was going to reunite him with his dead mother.

    Disgrace.

Diego Corrales - Served one year in prison for severely battering his ex-wife and breaking several of her ribs WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT WITH HIS CHILD.

    Disgrace.

Dave Hilton, Jr. - Released from prison recently after incarceration for ******ing his own two daughters and now intends to fight again.

    Disgrace.

Jose Luis Castillo - Failed to make weight on two occasions.

    Disgrace?

When Leonard Dorin didn't make weight to fight and defend his lightweight title in Romania, none of you gave a **** I bet. But because you didn't get your pound of flesh tomorrow night you're passing judgment.

    Disgrace.

what corrales did outside the ring was NOT a disgrace to boxing.
JLC lying and failing to live up to a signed contract was disgraceful.

Stop trying to nullify what JLC did today by comparing it with other, irrelevant topics.

        The problem is...

This was one of the most anticipated fights.
Nobody gave a **** if Dorin fought that guy or not.

Thousands of people bought plane tickets, hotels and spend LOTS of money for this fight.

        **** Castillo, I always said he was a *****.

how i see it: this fight has been building up for months. this fight was being promoted as a megafight. this fight was a title fight. many people had spent hundreds of dollars securing seats - not to mention plane tickets, hotel accomodations, etc for this fight. corrales trained hard for a few months for this fight. only for it to amount to nothing.

this wasn't just another fight. that's why people are saying he is disgraceful. he couldn't do something as fundamental as make weight for a title shot and a large paycheck.

castillo fan, you should be wondering how much he really cares about his fans. not once, but twice.

              It's a huge fight, that's why it's such a big deal.

As a fighter, when you get awarded with big headline events, you accept a certain responsibility to show up in shape and at the contract weight. To me, Castillo disrespected himself and the sport. If it was 1 pound, then we wouldn't be talking about it. But the best he could do last time was 138, now the best he can do is 140? That's an insult to the sport and to the thousands of fans who rearranged their lives, spent money, saved up money, and booked their weekend around an event where the participant making 6 figures just doesn't want to put in the effort to make the weight.

That's what I really believe. I think that his camp saw he wasn't going to make weight without starving and dehydrating him the last week or so, which they knew would hurt his body and his chances in the fight, and just said "**** it" and hoped it would go like last time. They'd fight anyway, and he'd be stronger and he'd win and move on and not have to worry about Corrales anymore.

To me, that's a disgrace and totally inexcusable. To be given this type of opportunity after what happened last time and to let it happen AGAIN makes me lose respect for Castillo and his team. **** Castillo. Period.

I hope this provokes the NSAC to move to same day weight-ins to stop fighters from trying to get an advantage. Trying to sweat off all that weight isnt even healthy and if the old school fighters had no problem with same day weight-ins today’s fighter’s shouldnt.

I see what your saying. However, if I'm not mistaken, Corrales pressured Castillo into the rematch because just as Corrales gave Castillo his rematch in the second fight. Many knew there was a good possibility of Castillo not making weight. Yes five pounds is a bit extreme, but its obvious that Castillo has no control over his body weight anymore, and his body is just rebelling.

However, I do feel sorry for the people that spent all that money, however Vic will definetly put on a great show, so maybe this is good that he will finally get the prime time he deserves.
