Comments Thread For: Oscar Valdez Wants to Fight Winner of Santa-Cruz-Mares Rematch

Oscar Valdez realizes he doesn't have an easy fight scheduled for September 22. The unbeaten WBO featherweight champion's optional title defense against Genesis Servania (29-0, 12 KOs) will mark just the second time Valdez (22-0, 19 KOs) will face an undefeated opponent since he turned pro in November 2012. But if the favored Valdez defeats his Filipino challenger next month, he hopes his following fight will determine partial featherweight title unification.

Would love to see Valdez smash Leo to bits.
Doubt it happens any time soon, Santa cruz will fight another load of mismatched midgets after re-matching mares in a fight no one wants to see.

Arum isn't going to make that matchup. This is just blustering. Valdez will fight in house bums.

Such a fantastic all around fighter with a solid ceiling of his potential that will be utterly ruined thanks to Top Rematch and in house fights!

        Thanks Rob Arum!

I agree wholeheartedly 100%!!! I think Valdez has a better chance at landing a fight with Gary Russel though. IMO thats for the #1 spot 50/50 fight

                  Thanks Rob Arum!
huh? Valdez has already fought some decent guy's and picked up a belt with fairly little experience...

Leo has nearly X2 the amount of fights and is 5 years older than valdez....and has spent his entire career fighting overmatched midgets coming up from lower weight classes.

His best win is frampton who is....you guessed it: a midget moving up from a lower weight class - who also beat him.

                  You got it backwards.

Fight will never happen unless its on Showtime/CBS and we know Arum will never allow that. ESPN won't shell out the money for it, and Arum all of sudden wants all his fighters showcased on free TV, ESPN. Both Mares and LSC are bigger attractions than Valdez so would it be ok if PBC/Haymon sent over a contract with the usual Arum stipulations for Valdez to sign?
