Gennady Golovkin's trainer still can't believe there are people that believe Golovkin intentionally struggled against Daniel Jacobs to convince Canelo Alvarez and his team to finally accept a showdown with him. Sanchez considers that idea disrespectful to Jacobs' ability and his performance against Golovkin, not to mention that it's a completely impractical plan to execute without it backfiring against a championship-caliber opponent.

Did he say this? I think he suggested it. But I don't think he ever said, "we made ourselves look bad against Jacobs so we could make the Canelo fight."

Every time somebody touches him, he claims he purposely allowed it to thrill the fans. He wants to give us a 'Big Drama Show', remember? Except for that time he was cautious AF against Lemieux. He looked like a skilled defense-first fighter that night, but Lemieux is a bulldozer. Canelo is a lot craftier than Lemieux, sturdier than Brook, and a more skilled puncher than Jacobs. It should be a good fight. Both could potentially win by KO or decision. Canelo could even stop him on cuts.
