Haye, Usyk gets hit way too much and doesn't have the power to really bother him. Haye's defense would also pose a lot of problems, Usyk tends to struggle with his accuracy and that's a no no vs a counter puncher like Haye who makes himself a small target, another one of Usyk's weaknesses.

I think a guy like Gassiev would pose more of a threat stylistically to Haye. Mormeck managed to drop Haye pretty hard in the 4th round by pressuring him and rocked him with a few punches prior to the stoppage. Gassiev has the power, chin and style to give Haye a lot of problems at cruiser.

i keep hearing about how haye was such an amazing cruiserweight but who did he actually beat? The division was horrific standard when he was a champ and he went life and death with people like jean marc mormeck. He'd lose handily to usyk.

Exactly! Even as a huge David Haye fan, I'm forced to admit that Oleksandr Usyk is technically too fundamentally sound for David Haye with better balance, footwork, punch variation, punch technique, jab and very importantly, better fitness / stamina.

Usyk has never shown a vulnerable chin. Despite being a very elusive boxer and having a very solid defense. The rare time he has gotten hit, he has rarely staggered from taking punches from even powerful knockout artists. Marco Huck landed his best right hands that would've knocked other boxers out on Usyk and Usyk barely even flinched.

I think this bout comes down to stamina and I'm predicting Usyk can weather the early storm from David Haye and then take him to deep waters in the later rounds where he'll drown Haye by exposing his inferior stamina by boxing at a level of intensity which Haye can't deal with.

Haye's best chance is to land a hayemaker in the first 5 rounds. Otherwise, his chances of winning significantly decreases.

Although I would still favor prime David Haye at heavyweight over current Usyk until I see more of Usyk at heavyweight and until Usyk proves himself there.

Haye's KO ratio at Cruiser was around 97%, Usyk has 1 win over a boxer with a KO ratio above 70% and that was an obese journeyman.

Huck has a 65% KO ratio and just 2 stoppages in the past 5 years. The general consensus was that he was a shot fighter as well.

Usyk has been shown to be vulnerable to counter punches, Mchunu (50% KO ratio) managed to tag him clean quite a few times and hurt him with a right counter in their fight. Mchunu is a VERY poor man's Haye and you could see areas where Usyk would have some serious problems.

Usyk has also shown to be a relatively slow starter, he lost the first 4 rounds against Hunter, can't do that against Haye.

-Mchunu had been recently violently KO'd by the other African Bellew had beaten and it took Usyk 9 rounds to stop him.
-Huck ate a ton of clean punches, 10 rounds to stop him.
-Hunter went a full 12 even when he was exhausted.

I don't see him having the power to stop Haye, Usyk is an accumulation puncher and often takes punches to land his, Haye is all wrong for him stylistically. Mormeck's style was better suited against Haye. Haye makes himself a very small target and that was very difficult against a 5'11 Mormeck, Mormeck also possessed greater 1 punch power than Usyk.

Usyk has the edge in cardio by far but wouldn't be able to use his normal work rate against a guy with a 97% KO ratio.

Completely agree, you took the words right out of my mouth. Life and death with an old Mormeck, and beat by Thompson. I find it hard to believe Haye would beat someone like Usyk, who's already far more skilled than Haye could ever dream of.

And Haye wasn't? Going life and death with a faded Mormeck, getting stopped by an old Carl Thompson, dropped by Lollenga Mock lol

Isn't Enzo Maccarinelli like his second best win at Cruiser?

Would Haye land a glove ? I don’t recall him hitting Wlad with anything noteworthy and this guy is slicker and fifty pound lighter !

Haye rushed from the division because USS was kicking around and Adamek was surfacing to world level too, I don’t blame Haye he made a lot of money but he knew it was time to cut and run, same happened at heavy when he rushed to face Klitschko with Povetkin about to be mandated. Ain’t like the guy truly had faith in himself. Usyk will fight anyone.

What you seen vs Bellew was as much of Hayes limitations as it was age, injury or anything else. He's always been a better athlete than boxer.

He hasn't the fundamentals to deal with Usyk. Its all good he's fast, powerful and having decent reflexes but he hasn't much of a jab, he can't cut a ring off at all. In fact he is terrible when forced to lead and can only follow in straight lines throwing telegraphed right hands.

Hayes only shot is early he hasn't the stamina, output or tools to slow Usyks pace. Usyk only gets stronger from round 3-4 on, Haye only fades even at his own pace.

Usyk wins for me 9 times out of 10 at least
