Deontay Wilder is holding out hope that a fight against Luis Ortiz can be finalized for November 4. His handlers are working to arrange an optional defense of his WBC heavyweight title against Ortiz for that night at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. An agreement cannot be completed, however, until the WBC reaches a resolution with former champion Bermane Stiverne, the mandatory challenger for Wilder's title.

Is he really going to make that much more fighting Ortiz than he was offered to face Dillian Whyte? Whyte seems like the easier fight and we know Deontay is all about soft touches. Saw him fight Jason Gavern at StubHub and he made a meal of that fight.

They surpassed Wilder with way more less fights. And both are younger than him.

What boogeyman? Ortiz went 12 rounds with Malik Scott lol. He ain't no boogeyman. HBO is just "racist" right? That's what everyone says, right? Well then that explains why they hyped this guy up. They are pro-black racists. Also pro-Cuban, which explains why they hyped up Rigondeaux, even though he got dropped by journeymen in multiple fights, and it explains why they hyped up Ortiz even though he couldn't knock out Malik Scott.

Nah man I'm kidding. Rigondeaux is a great fighter. He does have concentration or fundamental defensive issues at times, in spurts, which causes him to get dropped, so he's a little chinny in that regard too in terms of being dropped, but in terms of being KO'd, he actually has a good chin. He gets knocked down but gets back up very easily, and isn't wobbly at all. At least, so far. Loma may have something to say about that.

As for Ortiz, I am joking somewhat, because HBO wasn't wrong to hype him up when he first came to HBO I guess two or three years ago, but I was also being serious in the sense that he is no longer a boogeyman. Look at the Malik Scott fight. It's possible ever since he started the WBC clean boxing program he hasn't been the same. Or maybe he was one of the meldonium athletes affected by the ban. Either way, Wilder's team would know about that. Haymon would know about that. And that explains why they would take that fight when fans didn't think they would.

Just like no one thought Ward would take the Kovalev fight from the outside, but on the inside, these American "star" boxers have all the connections. So if Kovalev was getting meldonium on the down low from some lab in Florida, and then stopped getting shipments once VADA made it illegal, Team Ward would know about that. If Kovalev stopped training seriously and started to get drunk on "vodka" every weekend, and start weighing 220 pounds between fights, Team Ward would be told about that by what the LDBC would typically refer to as "snitches" (except when they help a black boxer I guess), and so that's when they will suddenly act like they've been brave the whole time, and have always been gunning to fight this "boogeyman."

If you can't see the same thing going on here, you're blind. Ortiz has looked like **** his last MULTIPLE fights, not just one. Less snap on his punches, way less volume, and more fatigue. If Wilder was really interested in fighting boogeymen, he would have fought both the Klitschko brothers any time the last decade, or anyone else with a pulse. But Wilder never even chased someone the caliber of Pulev, or Povetkin (Povetkin had to become his mandatory to almost get that fight), or Tyson Fury, let alone the Klischkos. What does that tell you?
