Now maybe you can argue that the original opponent didn't earn it, Eubanks Jr, but Brook was a stop gap. The fight was already in motion and Brook stepped up when Eubanks pulled out at the last minute. Massive props to Brook for taking on that challenge. He wasn't the opponent Golovkin targeted or wanted. Had Brook not stepped up Golovkin was without an opponent.

The guy he should have faced was BJS, but BJS didn't like the money supposedly. The offer was anywhere from 4MM to 1.5MM (per BJS). Instead he faced off against Artur Akavov last year (and that was it).
What did Chris Eubank do to deserve a shot?

Monroe was not top 10 at the time. Rosado i agree was the weakest of all ranked opponents that ggg fought but still not worst than overrated jey rock who is considered a credible win for Charlo.
          Murrey was 100% legit.
If middleweight was weak why didn't Charlo move up to clean it up instead of starving himself to death to make 154?
Middleweight division has always been and will always be the most competitive division in boxing, you only think its weak because the fighters are foreign and you dont know them.
Monroe Stevens and Rosado whether you like it or not are some of the best middleweights America has produced lately. Also, Kid Chocolate as im sure you know never wanted any part of ggg.
Geale Lemieux Jacobs Murrey Ouma Brook Macklin and Rubio were all 100% legit opponents.

Abel is correct on that. Charlo should build up his brand and get some credible wins instead of sitting on his arse waiting for ggg who already has atleast 2 fights lined up. I cant see why a boxing fun would disagree on that.

          • We still don't know what Charlo brings to 160 yet - beating a crippled Heiland didn't tell us anything.

If he beat any of The Ring top 10 then we would have an idea how he fits in, doesn't have to be Jacobs or Lemieux, but a fight with either of those two would certainly tell us what he brings to the table. Even an Andy Lee or someone like that (come to think of it, whatever happened to Quillin ?)

Canelo IS a weak excuse...in human form.

I don't think Eubanks deserved a shot at the title. But he was given a shot at the title. As you mentioned with Charlo, if none of those options were on the table I'd be happy to see Golovkin fight Charlo. If Golovkin wants to give him a shot should he beat Canelo so be it.

There were no other fighters willing to face Golovkin (most notably Canelo) at the time. Eubanks also had two things working for him that benefitted Golovkin, he was a UK fighter and he has some name recognition due to his pops. Golovkin wouldn't have to carry the whole fight by himself.

                  He already fits in....

                  .....Charlo is the WBC Mandatory.

Either fight him or get stripped.

Which is why I am an advocate for Charlo vs. Jacobs! I don't want to see Charlo sit on the shelf like Heiland did, or Khurtsidze did! They both work with Haymon, so go ahead and make it happen! It should do well at the Barclays!
