Cotto vs Trout?

Cotto is getting up there in years and if he wants to end his career on his feet and not on his shield he could take a fight against Trout and potentially win. It'd be a risky fight for him considering his long layoff and Trout is a decent boxer. If he wants to be 100% safe pick someone like Liam Smith.

I could see Cotto fighting Khan. Khan always wants the big fights whether he deserves them or not. Cotto doesn't want to fight anyone that will do a number on him but he wants someone with some name recognition. Glass-chinned Khan seems made-to-order as the perfect send-off, especially if he is forced to once again move up in weight from welterweight.

I would have added Berto's name to the potential opponent list but Berto just got KO'd by Porter and the guy that Kamegai knocked out this past September, Soto-Karass also knocked Berto out.

So that takes Berto off the list.

I could see Trout too, I was thinking of him also. Though I think he has a fight coming up with Hurd.

If Al Haymon and Golden Boy Promotions are truly on good terms how about Miguel Cotto vs Danny Garcia in all Puerto Rican showdown. Styles match plus it would sell great on the east coast.

I would also throw in Lucas, Khan, Lemeiux as more likely candidates.

I doubt Lemieux happens LOCO. Lemieux has enough trouble as it is making 160. The highest Cotto has ever weighed in at is 155. I don't think Lemieux will agree to a catchweight, Lol.

Canelo fights sept 16 so it gives him only 2 and a half months. Im sure canelo is going to want a rest after that fight. Lets say he wins in but its a brutal fight? It wont be enough time to recover his body while also getting a rest and having an 8 week training camp while also a press tour.
