I love Loma but this was a boring fight. Marriaga offered no intrigue, either pre- or post-fight. Moving up after a loss. Dodging punches and moving away rather than engaging. Loma bullied Marriaga - and to me, there was much less of the legendary Loma magic on display. Loma just wanted to get Marriaga out of there.
Time for Arum to dust off his checkbook. No point wasting Loma's talent on meaningless fights. At least Loma's opponents quit rather than leave on a stretcher. Should be easier to find dance partners than it was for GGG coming up.
He reminds me of RJJ with his antics in the ring. Never a fan of someone who's obviously way more talented than his opponent showing him up the way Loma does almost every fight. I assume he'd be way more tuned in if he were to fight Mikey or Tank.. He's an extremely talented fighter and he's fun to watch because he comes forward all night throwing punches. Bring on some big names now
Lomachenko is boxing's Eminem! He's Pernell Whitaker, Roy Jones Jr., and Floyd Mayweather Jr.., all blended together and poured in a European mold! It's a beautiful thing!
Loma's face won't hold up against any elite power puncher. His days are numbered...Teddy Atlas is too far up his arse...and the ref tonight also favored him too much, even after the fight...just another "Great White Hype!" Even Salido would fcuk him up again!
Just keep that White peetah in your mouth so we all can watch you do what you do best.
Not the other side of his face that was all from punches. He got hit a lot by a dude that had no business being in the ring with him he is a damn featherweight and ain't even top 20 ranked. Let alone compete 1 weight class higher.
I don't know how closely you follow the guy but you need to understand how he approaches things. He's loves boxing, but he always talk about how important it is to put on a show. He always talks about being exciting etc, how people want to see a show especially in America where he plans to keep boxing.
He was in with a lesser opponent, he put his face in his grill hands down, he got hit a little, but all of those were calculated moves. He tried to sell the fight as much as possible given the circumstance.
He knew Miarriaga couldn't hurt him, so he f\/cked around, I personally don't like that side of it, but that's what he did.
Did he pull any of this chit with Walters who he knew could knock his head off? Not really, not until he knew Walters had zero to offer.
If Loma came out like Floyd fighting defensively against this guy people would still hate.
He's doing what he needs to do, he got touched? Sure he did, a lot of it was not necessary but he did win.
Guys also hating on his power yet he is knocking guys down and making them quit.
Anyone in their right mind really think he would come out like this against Mikey? There is too much respect there for that. Anyone in their right mind think he would stick his chin out in the air or invite Mikey into the corner if he were to fight him? If you say yes you really don't understand Loma's entire philosophy.
You got to give credit to him, he created so much hype around him people don't know what to expect anymore. I guess they expect him to do cartwheels and backflips across the ring during rounds and perhaps close his eyes when he throws combos? So in expectation of all this they see some cuts on his face and the sheer disappointment of it all suddenly makes him trash.
And ultimately with all the hate that he is getting now people will tune it to wait to see him loose.....who woulda thunk?
I mean look.....Over a dozen guys in this very forum, who say Loma ain't chit, he gets dusted by anyone of note, stayed up till 1AM on a Saturday night to see him fight a no hoper? Why bother? And then they have the energy to come here and write essay's on how he ain't ****.
The man dominated his opponent, knocked his ass down a few times, made him quit and got touched in the process as he tried to put on a show...but he's not even TOP 10 P4P according to some?
