Half a fight? I admit it's easier to get cut, get cauliflower ears, have "accidental" intercourse with other men, etc. while doing MMA, but that hardly makes it more of a fight.

If anything, the concentration on hand to hand combat increases the skill level at which the top fighters fight when you compare it to a multifaceted discipline like MMA.

Boxers are specialists, and MMA fighters are not, they're more like jack of all trades, good at plenty of things, a true master of none. They might be a mile wide in fighting disciplines, but they're an inch deep.

Bottom line for me is that Boxing is of higher quality than MMA.

Half a fight, but triple the amount of shots that need to be taken in an avg fight. Some boxers will take more shots in a single fight than some of these MMA guys will take in a career - it's just the nature of this sport. You can "run", yes, but you can't fall to the ground looking to bait someone in your guard or jump at someone ankles trying to take them down because you're struggling on your feet

I have nothing bad to say about MMA fighters; many of them possess the same traits with boxers-the same traits of fighters we have become familiar with.

But this half a fight **** does piss me off since there have been countless boxers who have suffered permanent damage and have been killed in the ring. Conor talks like that in the immediate days after a former UFC fighter Tim Hague was killed in a boxing match. I guess..

Honestly, I'm a long time boxing fan and I see MMA as more difficult of the two since there is more to watch out for. That doesn't mean however that I SHOULD watch that because of this. I prefer boxing moreso because it's one craft and watching someone master that is a sight to see.

Seeing another boxing being dominated by one whose mastered the craft is a sight to see and moreso than a lucky punch, or take down by an MMA fighter. Just look at how many losses MMA fighters have. I think it's more difficult to master the craft and thus, with so many variables, it's not as easy to see a dominant fighter.

boxing has over a 100 year history in the western world. it is not just a sport it is the ultimate martial art which is why mma will never compare to boxing as a martial art.

mma needs at least another 70 years to develop the talents that boxing has.
