Comments Thread For: Carson Jones: Margarito Past His Best - I'm Going To Pound Him!

On September 2nd, veteran welterweight Carson Jones (40-11-3) will have the biggest opportunity of his career since facing Kell Brook in 2012 and again in 2013. In their first encounter Jones gave Brook all that he handle in a majority decision loss that some observers felt he did enough to earn the victory. The new opportunity comes in the super welterweight division against former champion Antonio Margarito (40-8). The action takes place in Chihuahua, Mexico and will be televised by Azteca in Mexico and BEIN Espaol in the United States.

      Interesting facts about Carson Jones:

He got schooled by Soto Karass, yet took Brook life or death and damn near beat him. Go figure.

Jones is inconsistent like Broner. Tries to bully opponents and largely gets away with it. But against Margacheato? If he doesn't stay on the move, he's getting stopped even at advanced age.

Carson's an Oklahoma boy like me and I've seen him fight a number of times. Truly someone who has learned on the job... I've always likened him to Brandon Rios. He's a tough, usually out of shape bastard with an iron chin and and a will to fight hard for 12 rounds. He doesn't give a fuck.

I think we're going to have a nasty, 12 round dogfight where both guys come out of the ring looking beat to shit. Don't miss this one.

I would give anything to have prime Tony back for one more night. Boxing's greatest hero returning to remind us how beautiful the sport can be.

There's no proof he did anything wrong. He was sacrificed so Top Rank could rebuild Cotto.
