Goodbye JMM you were great but not quite elite

His biggest win of all was the controversial ko of Manny that has been tainted with accusations of ped usage. That said it will always go into the record books as a win. Along with the victory over MAB it's safe to say Marquez will go down as a great champion just not an elite one. Had he beaten Manny with no allegations and certainly not lost to John and Bradley then he reaches elite level with the others of this era Manny, Floyd, Hopkins and Wlad. Personally I'd like to see JMM come back for 2 more fights against Bradley and Manny if he wins both clean then his legacy is greatly enhanced. The problem is wear and tear of all his wars have destroyed his body so it's probably time for him to call it a day. Great fighter one of the best of the last 20 years he just came up short of being elite imo.

You just took a prime elite off Pacquiao's resume. Now he has none. Damn.

Manny is secure though as an elite. Beating JMM twice, MAB twice, Erik twice all great fighters put him in that bracket before he moved up past 130. Everything else like Mosley, Cotto, dlh and Hatton was icing on the cake.

          What a ******ed thread

Controversial Ko victory ? Sure buds. If you were being honest with yourself JMM should have at least 3 wins over Pac

Not quite elite. The guy has victories over Pac, Barrera , Casamayor and a Sh.it load of other notable names. What is he a 3-4 weight champ if that's not elite what the f.uck is

            Great for sure.

Elite is for the floyds, mannys, Hopkins and wlads of this era.

By this era I mean in the past 10-15 years only.

I don't know man, I don't think he's on the same tier as Mayweather , Pac , Hopkins but if they're A++ then Marquez is A+

But those are 3 of the best that did it They're all in the discusion for top 25 ATG

              But JMM is elite

              Multiple Division Champ
Victories against future first ballot HOF & World Champs
              Multiple PPV
Fought the best of his era
              Future First Ballot

If that doesn't scream Elite I don't know what does

I guess that it's really. He's just short of the A+ rating. He's an A level fighter for sure.

Maybe we have different ideas of what elite is, Not a big deal but for me JMM is a thug and is elite in every sense of the word

Like I said earlier I believe he beat Manny at least 3 times, the Chris John L was a joke and the Bradley L was razor thin, besides that what are his Ls To Norwood and a shallacking by Mayweather.

I think PAC fans conserve Manny's image as sacred because he is their national hero. Even if Pacquiao admitted to Every loss to Marquez you'd still get an influx making an excuse for even that excuse. This is why it's dogmatic with PAC fans. PAC is a classic case of a hype machine under Top Rank. Assuming Marquez was roiding under Top Rank, hence "Top Rank," their IQs drop in thinking that SURELY Pac is an angel.

Maybe in years time PAC will admit Marquez is the better, and persuading his gullible followers, though they'll probably still deny it, that God said so.

Marquez never been KO'd but PAC 3 times...
