Boxing really changed on how fights happen......

Promoters have more control then abc groups. And promoters see more upside from a fight being marinated or a guy being moved cleverly up the ranks to make max paydays til he gets shown to not really belong as high as he ended up getting. Promoters have more reason to "correctly" move fighters cuz fighters are like an investment for promoters.
Abc groups just get their 3% whoever fights who. Granted the bigger the name the bigger that 3% will end up being, but the promoter is still seeing more upside for making big names.Comment

Thank Mayweather for thatLook at this way. If Tommy Hearns was in 147-154 right now, he would probably be the most ducked fighter in the history of boxing history. Literally everyone from Terrence Crawford at 140 until Jermall Charlo would probably ducked him.
But in the 80's he was one of the most sought after opponent at his time, where everybody wants a piece of Tommy Hearns at their resume.
It's a wonder how in just a generation it changed all too much. The A-side, low reward-high risk destroyed the mentality of boxers and destroyed boxing. She deserved better than this!Comment

So you think Floyd will chase or wait till he turned 40 and wait till he's knocked out by someone. Or do you think he would actuallyy fight a prime Tommy Hearns ?Comment

Boxers usually had 4 fights a year in Hearn's prime instead of the 2 fights a year they average now. They make much more money per fight now than then even taking inflation into account. They didn't have network feuds then like they do now. They didn't have a Haymon who managed 300 boxers at the same time. Champions defended their titles 3 or 4 times a year and almost always against a top 10 contender. Today many champions defend their title only once or twice a year and often against a guy not even in the top 20. Big fights usually got made fairly quickly and nobody ever said let this fight marinate. These are some differences I see between then and now. Boxers weighed in on the day of the fight and judges were allowed to call a round that was even an even round with a 10-10 score. Today they must give a dead even round to one boxer or the other so they give all the even rounds to the boxer they like the best causing some horrible score cards. I think a few brave boxers fighting today including Jermall would fight Hearns. They might lose but they wouldn't duck him. Lots of fighters his weight would duck Hearns as you say.Comment

Ok, ask yourself this. If you place Terence Crawford in a division with prime Pacman, Pryor, Oscar, Tito, Mosley, and Tszyu, would he be as dominate as he is today? Same with Spence, if he was in the Era of Wilfred, Hearns, Leonard, Duran, and Barkley, would he be seen as being anything special? Why are people still complaining about fights not being made despite all of the great fights that already happened this year? I don't understand this, we had and still have unification fights this year, we've seen the best fight the best in a lot of weight divisions and we've seen a lot of drama, a lot of technical ability and a lot of action this year already thanks mainly to Al Haymon who's forcing all other promoters to step their game up as well.
It's been a great year for boxing without a doubt, the reason why people always claim the past was better because it makes them feel like they know something about the history of the sport, a lot of great fights between great champions happened this year as well but these don't get the same praise Hearns and Leonard got when they fought because Hearns and Leonard were big stars when they fought, and they were big stars because they came up in an era where boxing was very popular mainly due to Ali. Fighters from today don't get that kind of shine because boxing as a whole isn'T as popular because it didn't have any polarizing figures like Ali in the last 20+ years.
Hearns was great, Leonard was great, Duran was great, but the champions from today are also on their way to being great and we should support them and stop b1tching and complaining for no reason especially after such a great year of boxing.Comment

How the hell do you know? They're world class fighters in today's era just like these guys were in their era. All you can do as a fighter is to beat the best from ur era and these guys are on their way to doing that and we should support them.Ok, ask yourself this. From the eye test I believe that today's top fighters are technically a bit better than a lot of the guys from the past, however guys in the past fought at a faster pace with higher intensity. Remember serious drug testing in boxing didn't exist untill the late 90s, early 2000s and it wasn't in all states.Comment
