There's a difference between coaching and puppetry. Just because a fighter doesn't do something doesn't mean he hasn't been coached to do so.
With Wlad, for instance, I think he completely runs his own camps. He's probably beyond suggestibility at this point. He's going to do things his way and it doesn't matter who's there to train him, they're doing what they're told rather than the other way around.
I've been around pros and amateurs in the gym (and trained a fair few myself) and sometimes people are uncoachable. You can tell them "if you don't carry your left hand higher, you're going to get knocked out by a right hand" and show them and drill on it and some of them get in the actual fight and continue to drop the hand. ANd so on and so on. And every boxer has physical limitations that no amount of coaching can change.
