  • Cat and mouse?

Well, yes, but the cat was Mikey even though he was the smaller guy, and the mouse was Broner. Mikey never ran away, while Broner spent most of the fight running away from Mikey.

Broner is very lucky that Mikey was new virtually to both 135 and 140 pounds, his last two fights. If he was an experienced 140-pounder with at least three fights in that weight, he would surely have KO'd Broner, I have no doubt.

    • Garcia is a p4p fighter. He is in a class with Crawford and Spence. Spence-Garcia could be the next multi-million ppv buys fight. No one is going to beat either one. Thurman is good, but Spence and Garcia are special. Crawford and Loma are with TR and therefore they only fight B or C class fighters on espn. If they ever actually wanna fight the best fighters they can leave and prove how good/great they are.

AB has got crazy speed and athleticism, but his never taking training serious enough leaves him without the skills to beat the best. Doesn't matter how hard you train for a few months, when the other guy has been training that hard for years and years. Mikey is a straight beast though. I had never seen him fight and was rooting for AB, but damn, I really like this Mikey too.

The problem (no pun intended) is that we'll never truly know who was the better fighter, since Broner didn't show up. Pac/Clottey and Judah/Malignaggi all over again.

There was nothing in this fight that screamed "elite" from either guy, and it begs the question whether Broner threw this fight.
You do realize you contradicted yourself, right? "No excuse" and then you went and made one...

And Broner did show up & got beat, plain and simple...

Nope. Broner throwing the fight wouldn't be an excuse. It would be an explanation for his performance. Because his performance is why he lost.

An excuse would be something to justify why the loss shouldn't have happened or was less relevant. Nobody except Danny Jacobs thinks Broner won that fight, and it was absolutely a relevant loss even if he threw it.

            • Why did Broner throw so few punches? Was it because he was weight drained? I think so.

                Weight drained.........
                Don't think so

More like, in over his head against a guy with formidable power and the timing to land it.

Its eerily Reminiscent of Hopkins/Tarver when Hopkins neutralized any and everything Tarver had making him appear amateurish.

the same reason Chavez Jnr threw so few against Canelo

and no, it wasn't the weight

Mikey was sharp, and kept him honest

look for Golovkin to have the same problem in September

More like Garcia's performance is why Broner lost...what could possible make you think Broner "threw" the fight?
