Was in the arena tonight. I considered Broner a very live dawg going in. And less than a minute into the fight, before a meaningful punch was even thrown, I told everyone sitting close to me that Broner was done. Broner's advantages in this fight was that he's the bigger guy. And he came out back peddling like he was in there with GGG. Broner had no chance of outboxing Mikey. And for whatever reason, that's what he came out trying to do. I don't think Mikey dominated him. I think Mikey took what Broner gave him, out worked him, and got the win.
Taking nothing away from Mikey. But Broner is so frustrating to watch. I live in Nashville, which is about a 4hr drive from Cincinnati. So I've seen Broner live several times. And Broner's biggest problem is that he doesn't have an identity as a fighter. He wants to be this super slick, defensive counter punching boxer and he's not. He's at his best when he's stalking and letting his hands go. I mean he was literally backing himself into the ropes, reacting to every feint like he was scared to death to get hit, covering up, get hit with 4 punches of a 5 punch combination, then shake his head as if nothing happened. I was in the arena, so I don't know what his corner was saying. But the instructions should have been simple. You're not making him miss. You're not even attempting to counter. The only time he's not hitting you is when you're hitting him. F.uck the cute **** and make it a dawg fight.
