  • Was in the arena tonight. I considered Broner a very live dawg going in. And less than a minute into the fight, before a meaningful punch was even thrown, I told everyone sitting close to me that Broner was done. Broner's advantages in this fight was that he's the bigger guy. And he came out back peddling like he was in there with GGG. Broner had no chance of outboxing Mikey. And for whatever reason, that's what he came out trying to do. I don't think Mikey dominated him. I think Mikey took what Broner gave him, out worked him, and got the win.

Taking nothing away from Mikey. But Broner is so frustrating to watch. I live in Nashville, which is about a 4hr drive from Cincinnati. So I've seen Broner live several times. And Broner's biggest problem is that he doesn't have an identity as a fighter. He wants to be this super slick, defensive counter punching boxer and he's not. He's at his best when he's stalking and letting his hands go. I mean he was literally backing himself into the ropes, reacting to every feint like he was scared to death to get hit, covering up, get hit with 4 punches of a 5 punch combination, then shake his head as if nothing happened. I was in the arena, so I don't know what his corner was saying. But the instructions should have been simple. You're not making him miss. You're not even attempting to counter. The only time he's not hitting you is when you're hitting him. F.uck the cute **** and make it a dawg fight.

I'm truly confused and can't figure Broner out???
He doesn't have nearly as much talent as people make it seem. What he has is a P4P mouth and a P4P mouth has elevated many fighters to heights that their skills alone could never take them.

Just look at the guys he beat to win his titles. Uknown Argentine at 130. DeMarco at 135 (his best win IMO). Squeeked by Malignaggi at 147. Semi-retired Khabib at 140.

Where would he be without Haymon and quotes like "I got more numbers than drug dealers got basements"?

Mayweather never would have taken the fight at 140, and weighed under 139, and had an average reach as opposed to the long reach Floyd has built his entire style on.

Floyd also threw punches. Wtf was that? Broner looked drained. Yes his jab was sharp in spots, but he had no stamina to throw punches, way worse than even usual, and his hooks and combinations had no snap on them. It wasn't as bad as Chavez Jr., but you can tell he overdrained. I was actually underwhelmed with Mikey's performance, similar to GGG vs Jacobs, but maybe this is just what we should expect from top level fights in 2017. At the top level everyone is all roided up and strong, so they can take sledgehammers (literally) without getting knocked out, but the shots are still steroid shots so they hurt to get hit with, and so they're naturally cautious.

Idk what it is, but damn the fights lately have been ****ing terrible. Only really good top level fights all year have been Klitschko-Joshua and Chocolatito-Sor Rung, but neither had any animosity, and the second only had one knockdown, the weight class being too low for the best fights to happen normally (although Estrada and Inoue are two guys who could change that).

GGG-Jacobs was a pretty good but not great fight.

For the record, Jacobs is way better than Broner, so I don't want to see anyone who said GGG was "exposed" in that fight say Mikey is elite after this fight. Jacobs is much longer for the weight class, more powerful, more active, has better footwork, and can switch stances. He also doesn't just shell up when you throw shots. The only thing Broner does better than Jacobs is take a punch, but another area where Jacobs is better is that even at 140, Broner was not as big for his weight class as Jacobs is, and as a result Jacobs was able to take the shots too, so that's all that matters.

what facts? you're the one that brought up this race keeping "us" down??? your failures and your peoples failures isnt nobody else fault but your own. you are not preaching anything but weak mentality and further division. whites, blacks, browns, yellows, reds all equal and all at fault for whatever failures in life they endure.

          • Mikey is good all around boxer but he can't hang with Lomachenko. He'll be swinging and missing. Mikey's too fundamental/predictable. Loma will pick him apart. Possible late stoppage

Basically he's too afraid of getting hit and that's the type of thing you realize when you actually attend a fight in person. You noticed it right away

Im not the one bringing anything up. Thats exactly whats going on. Why in a boxing forum. where we should debate and give opinions on matches become overshadowed about race. Youre the type of person that turns your head and pretend what isnt happening. The end of your comment is weak mentality.

Broner had a lot of success against Maidana in those middle rounds (and 12th) and people always seem to forget that.

Mikey is definitely the leading contender for Fighter of the year. He just needs one more solid opponent and he gets it for sure IMO.
Porter basically did. Broner caught him late but that was an undrained Broner. The Broner that fought Porter is not the guy that fought Mikey. And Broner actually had more success in spots vs Mikey than he did vs Porter. He actually landed some hurtful body shots and head shots in the 8th, 9th, 10th, etc that outside of that one shot vs Porter, he never landed vs Porter.

I'd say the Porter performance and Mikey performance vs Broner were about equal, especially when you factor in that Porter faced a better version (but Porter is also way bigger than Mikey, so I guess it goes both ways, but Broner looked so drained for this fight that I don't think Mikey was that impressive actually).

I been making the same comments in here for years about the bs. If casuals get their feelings hurt over an outcome of a fight thats their problem. Take what u give and move on. I was on the fence from the start about my prediction. All i said was i want to see a competitive match. Cuz i liked both fighters.
