Charlo is an A-level fighter. It doesn't matter if his opponent shows up or not, he's nailing you with that beautiful uppercut, he pivots, he throws straight rights down the pipe, snap on every punch, good defense.
None of that was on display tonight with Mikey. He cut off the ring, yes. Good body work, yes. But anyone with above average speed and workrate beats him easily over 12. He barely threw punches yet somehow gassed, he was getting tagged on the ropes and he relies too much on counter punching. B-level. There's nothing wrong with that.
Exactly the point I'm trying to make. This loss was Broner beating himself more than Mikey beating Broner. Doesn't take anything away from Garcia's win, he earned it, but he earned it against a D-level performance. That's all we're saying. Garcia didn't beat a top guy who was there to take him out, he beat a guy who content to get paid not to get knocked out, like Clottey and Judah.Comment

I'm still a Broner fan. He lost to a Top P4P boxer. NO SHAME in that.Comment

There's no excuses to be had. Garcia beat Broner, fair and square.
The problem (no pun intended) is that we'll never truly know who was the better fighter, since Broner didn't show up. Pac/Clottey and Judah/Malignaggi all over again.
There was nothing in this fight that screamed "elite" from either guy, and it begs the question whether Broner threw this fight.
The "He threw this fight" talk is reckless at best, delusional at worst.
At the end of the 9th Broner may have broken Mike's nose, but was too glassy and weathered to see it, or capitalize off it.Comment
