On a side note, I still remember when Trinidad, absolutely one of my favorite boxers ever, "beat" DLH. I was 12, and I said it looked to me like DLH won. People told me I didn't know enough about boxing scoring to understand why Trinidad won. Forward 18 years into the future and I've never ever scored that fight for Trinidad. Don't get me wrong, I think Trinidad would've whooped Oscar's ass at 154lbs, but I don't think he got the better of him that night at 147 lbs.
nobody thought wrapidad won that fight..only hard core wrapidad fans..oscar got robbed on that one...and canelo beat cotto..

8-4 Canelo. Cotto more active, Canelo landed the bigger shots.

You can say Canelo won. I agree with that.

But the scorecards of 119-109 and 118-110 were ridiculous. The fight was closer than that.

connecting more? Canelo landed more and at a higher percent and almost doubled him up in power punches. Cotto won 3 rounds 4 if you really generous and stayed on his bike all night to avoid getting KOd. Dude couldn't land literally missed 500 punches he threw. Easy win for canelo.

The fight was a close but clear victory for Canelo. No controversy there.

I thought Canelo won a split decision? Don't see how it could've been a split decision since I had Canelo up 9-3 or 8-4. Cotto did good landing pitter patter jabs while moving away, but everything significant came from Canelo and the only person who was hurt (at times) was Cotto. And the flashier moves (offensively and defensively) were made by Canelo

The problem is cotto came in trying to jab and run his way to a victory. Had no intentions of slugging and wanted to make it a tactical boxing match and canelo out boxed him easily. He refused to change his game plan when it was clear he couldn't outbox canelo and was losing the fight. If I remember correctly none of the judges agreed on a single round for cotto. The rounds canelo won were clear and decisive then there were a handful of rounds that cotto did better but even those were toss ups. If you give all the toss up rounds to cotto simply because he didn't lose as badly as other rounds then you have canelo winning a 8-4 type fight. If you give one or 2 of those close rounds to canelo you get wide scores. Either way cotto problem is he just couldn't connect canelo defense had him missing and looking foolish all night and he refused to stand his ground and go for broke because he didn't want to get knocked out.
