Broner has a size advantage, that given the boxing skills he has been blessed with, he should be in a position to win this easily.

Trouble is, the odds-makers are taking into account that for a long time now, he has been wasting his skills, and development opportunity has been lost through destructive habits and loss of focus.

If Broner truly is perfectly conditioned for this fight, previous excesses down the years still carry a cost - he's basically not as good as he could have been at this stage of his career.

Garcia is potentially outside of his optimum weight, and that's just factual, and the only outcome that will make waves through the division is Garcia winning. Broner winning will prove little, only that he can beat someone out of their optimum weight. Broner would need to give Crawford a tough fight (wouldn't have to win, just make Crawford have to really dig for it), else put a beating on someone like Postol to makes waves.

Broner is effectively a gatekeeper at this point unless he can work himself out of that by beating an established, more highly ranked 140/147 pounder. At this stage, few would give him any chance against Spence at 147 for example - if not a gatekeeper, he's effectively back to prospect stage.

If Broner wins, and I'm actually getting very tempted to pick him. I won't make excuses, but IMO it doesn't make him a P4P guy, or anything close to it. Mikey is a tremendous fighter. One who IMO is easily one of the top 10 P4P fighters in the game. If not top 5. But for Broner, you don't get max credit for beating a smaller guy, no matter how talented he is. IMO a win for Broner makes him relevant for the first time in a couple years. But IMO he would need to beat the Crawford-Indongo winner for me to view him as a legitimate top fighter in the game.

Feeling like you're better than someone...acknowledging you lost, but feeling like you would have win with better training or discipline is an excuse to you?
