He became a boxing star because he's Puerto Rican and they support any boxer from there that is good. No other reason

The Bobfather is the biggest crook boxing has seen (only Don King is even comparable) but people do underestimate how much he did for Cotto & Pacquiao. He basically built those guys from the ground up and made them into the big names they became. Cotto was right to leave him for how he handled the Bumgarito situation though. Overall I think we all agree he's a massive scumbag and has done more bad than good. Prevented loads of great fights over the years, involved in numerous scandals, screwed over tons of guys I could go on & on.

He was a really top flight fighter during his prime. The Margarito fight really damaged him. I think the recent hate stems from people viewing him as a diva and such.

Cotto was gonna be a great fighter regardless. Top Skank just robbed him along the way. Cotto probably made more money in 2-3 fights with Roc Nation then he did in his entire career with Top Skank.

You just can't hate on Cotto and call yourself a fan of boxing. There is a reason Floyd waited for him to get softened up before facing him.

zab getting done over in 2nd round by tszyu, losing to baldomir, spinks does not make him a top class fighter in my opinion and just cause cotto got him out of there in the 11th doesnt make me think it was some class win.
I think fighters like cotto and judah get the benefit of the doubt cause they looked really good at the start of there careers but when they got thrown to the wolves they lost. People remember the hype and see them as top fighters, top talents but once they got to that top pool of fighters they, more than often, fell badly short.
If cotto gave these fighters he lost to hell i might say, oh well he lost to the best, but mayweather played with him, pacquiao annihilated him, canelo beat him comfortably, margarito made him quit, trout beat him 119-109 on one scorecard. Seems every big fight i tune into of his he gets whooped.
Was always an excuse when he lost too, weight issues, bad camp, trainers fault etc. Fact is hes never really been that amazing a fighter, just a solid fighter and his status in the sport doesnt befit his actual performances.
Actually Cotto dropped him in the 2nd rnd, Malignaggi did make it a fight, but Cotto did put a hurt on him physically & mentally. To diminish Cotto's win & say that he had a hard time is just not right and i'll explain. First of all when Paulie fought Cotto he was an undefeated fighter. He was younger & felt unbeatable. His next lost a 12 rnd TKO, will be 2 years & 5 fights later against Hatton (2008), his next lost against Diaz (2009) will be 3 years & 9 fights later from his fight with Cotto. He would avenged this lost. His next lost was against Amir Khan (2010) by 11 rnd TKO, which was 4 years & 9 fights after the Cotto bout, his next lost would be against Broner(2013) by split dec, which was 7 years & 15 fights after the cotto bout, his next lost will be against Porter(2014) via 4 rnd TKO, it was 8 years & 17 bouts later, next lost with Danny Garcia(2015) via 9 rnd TKO, was 9 years & 18 fights later.

So you see why your comparisons does not hold any weight. It's just that by the time Paulie got more loses their was more wear & tear on the body...It's elemantary my dear watson.
