You don't gotta talk to be a star. I think Cotto got there through natural talent (say what you will about who he beat or lost to, the guy has skills), TR putting him in the right fights at the right time on the come up to get guys a pretty record while seeing they can actually fight with as lil risk as possible (that might be what TR excels at the most) & putting on fights in the right place &/or the right cards (39 of Cotto's 45 fights took place in PR, NY, NJ or Vegas). Probably missing a thing or two in there, but I believe those are the core reasons Cotto is where he's at today.

Well his fights were obviously shown on TV or they wouldn't be on youtube with commentators etc, would they?

I didn't see any but I guarantee many were shown live around the world. You'd have to be very ****** to think they weren't.

Well Cotto did have an exciting style and that's what fans liked. He was hyped as hell no matter what anyone says.

Matthysse has like 0 personality and he was hyped by fans because of his power. Cotto was the same.

I don't either tbh, I think it's bull****...cotto was a scary dude a few years ago, no real expression or emotion, you had no clue what he was thinking.

Cotto has as many gay fanboys as I've ever seen. Lots of silly **** in this thread. Behind Mayweather and Pacquiao he has been the third biggest star in boxing during his era. Be serious.

i have no idea how cotto is seen as one of the stars of the sport. the guy pretty much lost every big fight he had, even someone like trout whooped him. was the last guy who pacquiao managed to stop, noone else was crap enough for him to stop in like 8 years or so but cotto was. hes such an average fighter that mayweather fought the most offensively against him that ive seen for years and still beat him easy. not hating on cotto but it bewilders me how you can get whooped that much but still be seen as a star, seen people saying brook doesnt deserve to fight him or some ****, hell cotto doesnt deserve to fight brook after getting stopped by margarito who wasnt that great, schooled by trout, stopped by a former flyweight, schooled by mayweather, schooled by canelo.

Just to add some more facts...

                      He beat;
-Zab, by ko (1 year after Floyd)
                      -Mosley (3 years before Floyd),
Malignaggi was the first to Beat him in 2006 (before Hatton (2008),Khan (2010), Porter (2014) & Danny Garcia (2015),
-Clootey (was a close fight due to Clottey head bunt that cause a nasty cut in his eyes early in the fight) which made him have to box & retreat. I'v seen other fighters quit with a gash like the one he had.
*This was a great performance by Cotto as the cut was early in the fight and he fought of an aggressive guy like Clottey for 10 rds after the cut*
                      -by ko Mayorga
                      -by koMargarito
-by ko Sergio (no one wanted to fight Sergio bum knees & all)

                      Lost to:
-Mayweather by dec (no shame in that) *Actually made Mayweather consider retirement*
-Margarito lost by ko (great fight, eventually Margocheato was exposed cheating & so what he took a knee, look at what happen to Pritchard Colon.)
*No way Margarito didn't cheat against Cotto, Why do it against a fading WW in Mosley and not against the top WW at the time in Cotto? He was on his way to beating him until the wraps hardened in around the 6-7 round...*
                      -Pacquia by ko
*weight drained and I thing Paquiao was using PEDs*
                      -Austin Trout by dec
-Canelo by dec (no shame in that)

So you say Cotto is ugly? ok then which fighter do you think is CUTE? LMFAO!!!
Arum is a good promoter, but I really think he has at times mismanaged Manny's career. Having him Marquez for a fourth time was a dumb idea. Having him fight horn another bad idea, having him fight Bradley for a third time was ridiculous. ungrateful to Arum? GTFOH!!!
I don't get the hate for Cotto, especially from guys that have never stepped inside a ring. If this was coming from a pro boxer (with a better record of course) then it would be valid.
