If he fights Usyk I think he will be the underdog and he will be knocked out. Usyk is too big and powerful for Ward in my opinion. Ward depends a lot on being stronger than his opponent when he is wrestling with them at close range. He usually is stronger than light heavyweights but cruiserweight is a big 25 pound jump up in weight. I think Ward should stay at 175.
Will Andre Ward would be favourite if he fights Usyk?

He was slapped by Thabiso Mchunu and covered up for almost 20 seconds without doing anything....he just froze.
Watch the fight...it's on Youtube

None of us know what Ward would look like at CW. Usyk is the bigger and phyiscally stronger man so on paper Ward would be the underdog if he moved up and took on Usyk without any tune ups. I still want to see more of Usyk. I think he's good but I'm still not sold on him.Comment

Mchunu is an awkward fighter and fought back hard, but Usyk still made him quit. Usyk gassed a little in the fight. I thought he was having an off night.
Usyk is a special fighter with a good defense, foot movement, slickness, and great ring IQ. He's a technician and has special effects. He's one of the best boxers in the world right now, and he only has 12 pro fights.
Many favor him to win the cruiserweight tournament. I agree. Along with Lomachenko, he's the best European fighter (not Kovalev or Golovkin), skill wise, IMO.
Maybe you should try watching some of his fights.
Anyway, I don't know if it would make money sense to Ward to fight Usyk, a big, strong, skillful, slick cruiserweight at this point of his career.
Ward might fight Bellew next. I hope he stays at light heavy and fights Stevenson, Beterbiev, or Kovalev 3, or retire.
I like both fighters.Comment
