'' Reportedly, he has been told by immigration experts that earning mandatory challenger status for the IBF crown would prove to be the decisive factor in the decision. ''

If lets say Robert Easter jr. just gives him a title shot It wouldn't help him in court because he has to prove he is an exceptional athlete to earn a green-card. Also Robert Easter is a PBC fighter so HBO has no saving on the matter.

What I don't understand is how is facing Bryan Vasquez advancing his cause? Vasquez from what I understand is not even ranked by the IBF @ lightweight....and he may very well upset Beltran....so why take this fight? Beltran should be fighting the American Alejandro Luna - - ironically he might have to kick some American ass to become one! hehehe good luck Amigo.

I hope he gets it, Ray's a good dude. For a guy who was almost more known for being a Pacquiao sparring partner than a legit contender -- he has carved out a nice career for himself. He's getting a good dose of HBO airtime and don't look now, but he's on a 4 fight KO streak.

I'm no activist or anything like that, but Mexicans have the bars raised super high, they must perform to perfection and even surpass that level to prove worth in this country... don't want to get political but that's the truth.. no one will understand that unless you see life through the eyes of a Mexican... It think it was Chapelle who said, sorry Mexicans but the ball's in your court now, we blacks carried that burden for some time... like racist america takes turns bullying a certain ethnic group every few years!!! Anyway good luck to Ray... I have enjoyed most of his fights!!!

Not sure how a fighter as exciting and humble as Beltran hasn't yet got his citizenship yet is beyond me!

The man is knocking out everyone and he made Crawford fight the way no one ever has even though he clearly lost!

I think he definitely beats Easter Jr especially if Robert continues to be stagnant with his techniques and fights like he did against Commey!

Beltran hits much harder and is just as relentless!

Agreed, just show them his highlights and they'll be on board!

The political climate is not great at the moment for his cause. The person in charge is looking to keep more people out, not let them in. Unfortunately he's a victim of the new policy. Good luck to him.
