Comments Thread For: Rau'shee Warren-McJoe Arroyo: Olympians on the Outside

Two fighters, both coming off both their first defeat and the loss of their first titles, will face off this Saturday with a chance to move forward in one of boxing’s hottest divisions. How hot is Jr. bantamweight? Just weeks ago Jerwin Ancajas, who defeated McJoe Arroyo for the IBF 115 lb. title last year, got spotlight time on the undercard of Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn. In a little more than a month, HBO will air a tripleheader in the division as good as any card on air this year.

There's a correction that needs to be made in this article. Warren isn't coming he off his first defeat, he's coming off his 2nd lost.

Warren stayed in the amateurs too long, he looks to be slowing down. Normaly, the first thing to go is the legs, the last thing to go is the punch. That's no consolation, he never had a big punch. Arroyo looks fresher with some power.

Interesting fact to this bout is they fought in the amateurs when they were 15-16 year old kids. McJoe Arroyo, 1.5 years older won a 4-1 decision in the final of the 2002 International Junior Olympics. They fought at 45 kg at the time.

This is a good skills vs skills matchup. Warren's biggest mistake was having the guy in his last fight hurt and not closing the show and Arroyo's issue was just fighting an unexpectedly good fighter in his last fight.

Arroyo got screwed all the way around. This type of crap has me crying in my tequila. 25 thousand to defend in the PI vs Ancajas. Somebody got paid, but not Arroyo. He never got... half the protection Felix is.

When I first read that I was shocked at such low pay. Even Ancajas was paid a paltry amount. That had to be one of the better matchups that got the worse location, no TV, and for such low pay. It belonged at the least on a Showtime or HBO card....it deserved that. Two guys that fought their heart out. I saw it on youtube.
