"Wilder is the hardest worker I've been in with. He's the hardest puncher, in addition he has dangerous angles to his attacks that are difficult to understand. If Klitschko has a classic technique, then Wilder is very unusual and his attacks are very difficult to defend against. If you look from the outside, the movements seem clumsy, but in the ring they work in a very efficient manner."

Fighters who've sparred or fought Wilder admit that his style is very deceptive. He throws punches from angles that no other heavyweight can, and there's huge power behind them. He starts slowly, tricking his opponents into believing they've figured him out. They get overconfident, step into vulnerable positions, and that's when he bombs them.

Joshua appears to be more text book and he does have a more textbook style. Appearance of skill is not the exact same as actually being skillful though.
Wilder does have some flaws but they are not easy to really capitalize on. He is tall, rangy, athletic and unorthodox, so even if he gets out of position it is not often in a position where a guy can do something about it (really do something about it not landing a weak shot or a jab). He gets wild and he can be outboxed to a degree, but even in those fight with Szpilka and Washington he knocked the guy out and they never made him actually really pay for his mistakes even if they made the fight difficult. Making a fight difficult and actually doing something meaningful with it are totally different things.
It is tough to say who is more skilled exactly because they are fairly different even though they are both out to hurt the other guy, Wilder like to bomb away from range with right hands using the jab as a range finder and to peck away to open up the right while Joshua likes to be in a bit closer to land that nasty uppercut using his heavy jab to work his way in a bit closer doing damage with it.

Wilder loses rounds regularly against complete bums that wouldn't win 1 against Joshua. It's clear as day Joshua is more skilled even someone that's never seen a boxing match would notice it.
If both weren't big hitters, Joshua would still be champion/championship contender, Wilder would be a bum.Last edited by Robbie Barrett; 07-25-2017, 02:08 PM.

Neither are great boxers but Joshua has the better basic fundamentals for sure, not to mention he's only had exactly half the fights Wilder has and he's getting better. It's easy to forget he's only had 19 pro fights and has only been a pro for about 4 years.
Wilder has had nearly 40 fights, is in his 30's and has been pro almost 10 years and, yet he still lacks some basic fundamentals and windmills like an angry spastic.

I have seen them both fight many times and Aj appears far more skilled than Wilder to me. He throws fast accurate powerful correctly thrown punches. Wilder has hand speed and power. He throws some of the widest, wildest punches I have ever seen a champion throw. When he throws a correct punch it almost seems to be by accident. Wilder can throw a good left jab and a good straight right but he mostly throws windmill punches than can be easily blocked or slipped.
