When the dust settles + the crowds go home, the world will remember TBE as the GOAT

    So many reasons why:
    - Fought and beat anyone they put on front of him
    - Changed the game, left top rank, worked for himself and became the most successful boxer of all time
    - Highest selling PPV fighter in the history of the sport
    - Undefeated across multiple weight divisions
    - Dominated the sport for over 20 years
    - Great defense in the history of the sport
    - Outstanding chin, never been knocked down or hurt
    - Incredible footwork and in ring movement
    - Smartest fighter to ever life
    - Ended Pacquiaos career

"beat" everyone they put in front of him, but he ducked the ones the fans wanted to put in front of him

          - Changed the game, left top rank, worked for himself and became the most successful boxer of all time
He didn't change anything, they were selling PPVs long before him, and he didn't work for himself until the last two fights, he was working for Golden Boy, remember those GBP checks he would flaunt?

          - Highest selling PPV fighter in the history of the sport
Meh, that's only until the next one comes along. Plus he couldn't do it by himself. What kind of numbers did he and Berto do again?

          - Undefeated across multiple weight divisions
That's debatable. Castillo, De la Hoya, Maidana

          - Dominated the sport for over 20 years
Not really. He fought cans after the Castillo scare from 2003-2007, ducked a DLH rematch, a prime Cotto, prime Mosley, Tszyu, Williams, Margarito and he ducked and dodged a prime Pac

          - Great defense in the history of the sport
There have been others with better defenses
          - Outstanding chin, never been knocked down or hurt
DeMarcus Corley had him hurt, and Maidana would've hurt him bad if he wasn't using the pillow gloves Mayweather was crying about.
          - Incredible footwork and in ring movement
          Translation: running.
          - Smartest fighter to ever life
          He can't read.
          - Ended Pacquiaos career
No he didn't. In fact, he's never ended anyone's career. He's never defeated anyone so bad that it ruined them. Marquez KO'd Pac 3 years prior, all Mayweather did in that fight was hug, run and pitter pat his way to a win. That's not career ending. Jeff Horn busted Pac up worse than Mayweather.

          You're a moron.

Okay, let me break it down:

Seasoned boxing fans know Mayweather is TBE

When he beats Conor...casuals will become believers

This fight is for bragging rights as the greatest fighter of all time....greater than Chuck, Bruce or Jackie...Mayweather will cement his name as the TBE of all time in all fighting disciplines

He'll be remembered as the greatest defensive fighter of all time and one of the most business savvy fighters of all time. Not much else.

He'll also be remembered as the death of boxing if McGregor knocks him out next month.

                The bold points;

                1. So did Joe Calzaghe, Sven Ottke, Rocky Marciano, Ricardo Lopez - fighters who are often ridiculed by Mayweather fans

                2. Many fighters left promoters. One could argue changed the game for the worse - a lot of fans left the sport because of Floyd and he created a whole new era of marinating fights and helped contribute holding fights off and avoiding tough fights whilst just waiting for the big payday.

                3. Irrelevant. PPV is a new concept. Didn't have it in the days of Robinson, Ali, Louis, Hagler, Leonard, Duran etc etc; etc; (basically 90% of hall of fame weren't in PPV era). If you want to say that it is then ok Floyd never packed a stadium or fought in front of a live crowd bigger than 15k

                4. I'm assuming you meant greatest defense? Not sure. Willie Pep and Pernell Whitaker could certainly argue that, but doubt you know much about either.

                5. Was hurt badly by Mosley, was hurt by Corley, was dropped by Famoso Hernandez and Zab Judah, but perhaps that's before you started watching Floyd.

                6. You mean in the ring smarts? He has a great ring IQ, but there's so many fighters that could claim that title. There isn't a clear cut "smartest fighter ever".

                7. How? Pacquaio went on to make probably $40-50m after that "fight". If you mean ended his career as an elite fighter. No. Marquez did when he damn near killed the man. That's why Mayweather fought him. Floyd-Pacquaio is irrelevant historically as a fight since it was just a money grab by then. Floyd needed to step up to that challenge earlier and when Marquez schooled Pacquaio in 2011 he still didn't and then Marquez iced Pacquaio that was kind of the end. If Floyd was the most powerful boxer ever and the boss and ruler of the sport the Pacquaio fight happens when he wants it NOT in 2015 when Pacquaio was washed up.

All in all he's a great fighter with a legacy that divides. He brought in a lot of new fans that don't really know or respect the sport and it's history and obviously turned a lot of people off boxing/drove some long time fans away with his personality, boring fights, selective matchmaking and general circus around him.

Some fans are too bitter and take some of that stuff too seriously and don't give him the necessary credit as a great elite level guy that could do well in most era's.

Great fighter. Top 50 for sure, maybe even top 30 but to say the top 10 or top 5 ever is to not know the sport or respect it's history. Your probably the person who absolutely must think he's watching the g.o.a.t in any sport and anything before your time is trash and you stop watching the sport when he goes away and that any fighter that "challenges" your boy is crap and you hate. Also probably root for Canelo now in some weird this makes Floyd better kind of thing and roots for all TMT fighters.

You probably also care more about August 26th than the September 9th card or GGG-Canelo. That says your a fan of a fighter more than the sport. Usually that fandom is reserved for team sports and is understandable but to put an individual over an entire sport says A) your a fanboy or b) your just not that into the sport. I'd say 98% of Mayweather "fans" fall into this category. Many Pacquaio fans too but to a lesser extent.

The most recent fighters I can think of that I rate higher than Floyd are Roy Jones Jr., Leonard, and Duran.
