he doesn't need an english > spanish translator at all..... He understands questions in english perfectly and answers immediately without waiting for a translator..... And his spoken english is much better, he can make understandable sentences..... He just chooses not to

guess he wants to improve further before he speaks in english

he should try more i agree, his broken english is not that bad..... Not as good as gennady but he is getting there

they should have had him in english classes at 15
canelo not speaking english is also a business move! The real mexicans that live in america dont like their fighters to become too americanized! Canelo has a lot of hardcore mexican support and he avoids speaking english most time because of that as well.... Its like being a politician almost

hahaha man if these two had a personality they would sell this fight just fine! But whats sad is that the two trainers sanchez and chepo will probably do the most talking in these 2 episodes lol...

24/7 was great back when there were four episodes. Three before the fight, detailing the training and sparring of each fighter leading up to the fight, then the epilogue showing the fight.

Now they just do one episode, and all the training footage is stock footage that is months old, so you can't see what type of shape the fighters are in leading up to the fight or what they are working on weeks before the fight, and most of it is just a commercial for the boxers or showing their life story we've already seen 15 times, because what else can you really show with footage that is months old?

So no I'm not looking forward to this one. Also ever since one boxer decided it was a disadvantage to let cameras videotape sparring, now every boxer is doing it so there's no sparring footage, which was some of the best footage as well.

The show has gone downhill completely. I hope someday they go back to the 3 or 4 episode format, and actually show up to date training footage in HD, if not sparring footage as well, because that was the most interesting stuff.

I never thought of that, but I can see it makes sense. Canelo is a rich man because Mexicans and Mexican Americans pay to watch his fights. Take away that Mexican money and Canelo would be just another fighter. English speaking American sports fans have little interest in their own, home-grown boxers, so they were hardly going to suddenly become Canelo fans, just because he learned to speak English.

So, I guess that, for him, staying in favour with the Mexicans and ignoring everybody else is good business.

This is the type of fight where both fighters don't seem too interested in wanting to talk. They'll do their talking on September 16. These shows have always been entertaining but both men have been cordial so far and I really don't expect anything besides respect and preparation being portrayed in the two episodes.

If he boxes intelligently and avoids lengthy exchanges in the pocket, he will win. I just cannot see him losing this fight unless he decides to trade with Golovkin.

I think if he fought Golovkin after Cotto he would have lost. He took the *****bag route instead.
