Comments Thread For: Robert Guerrero and Knowing When To Say When

By Andreas Hale - Sometimes you have to know when to say when. In the case of Robert Guerrero, he was able to do what so many other boxers are unable to: walk away. After receiving the worst beating of his professional career when he was stopped in three rounds against Omar Figueroa Jr., "The Ghost" wasted no time and announced his retirement from the sport. At the age of 34, Guerrero knew his time was up and likely saved himself from irreversible bodily harm...

I hope he stays retired and doesnt come back. Dont need to he did a lot and fought some great fights as well as shared the ring with some great fighters. It is a shame he and Marquez never fought at LW a few years back. One of my favorite what if fights.

Yeah that was brutal to watch. I was legit cringing for him during that fight. And all I could think after the fight concluded was that he was done and absolutely needs to retire asap.

His body language when getting hit with the same uppercut over and over again was very strange. He literally looked like a human bobble head.

Yeah I know what ya mean, dude. Like the way he was reacting to them...the **** was violent, man. Some really violent ass reactions. Now yes of course those were some nice uppercuts -- but some of them when seeing it on replay, it's not like the shots seemed THAT brutal. Now of course I wasn't the one taking them, lol. But these weren't exactly Anthony Joshua on Klitschko uppercuts. Yet he was reacting to them the same way.

For sure. The fight was just strange period. Even a shot fighter makes an attempt to avoid punches that he has been hit with earlier In the fight, even If he Is unsuccessful. Ironically, Guerrero chose to continue to put his head down and eat uppercuts. I know I probably sound like a broken record but I can't ever recall watching a fight where a guy that has Robert's experience make those type of mistakes repeatedly and react the way he did to those punches. He did the right thing by retiring.

That's what I was thinking. He clearly did NOT know when to stop. He had been shot for a while now
