  • Say what you want about Paulie M, but he has heart

Who else do you do you know that fought for 11 rounds on a fractured cheek bone?

Fighters of today would've quit the same round.

Paulie never quits even when many other boxers would under the same circumstances. He is as game as they come.

Yes, Paulie has enormous heart. He gets ridiculed for not having power, but he makes up for it with heart and guts.

Yeah it's really truly amazing that he was able to ascend all the way to the highest level of the sport with that level of power

I mean the guy was in the ring with Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, Adrien Broner, Zab Judah, etc...

Granted he lost to all of those guys (except Judah) but the fact that he was good enough to get to those match ups...says a lot.

I'm a massive Paulie fan. Nothing makes me get behind any athlete than said athlete being disciplined, and having the drive and determination to maximise the talent and ability that they have. Couple that with the heart that Paulie has, and I'm an instant fan.

That said, the bold had me rolling, dude.

Lol yeah Paulie just wasn't naturally talented enough to beat the elite guys. He couldn't overcome that natural talent gap.

Cotto's a first ballot hall of famer. That version of Khan that Paulie fought was Khan at his peak, and even with the infamous chin issues, Khan at his peak was among the most talented fighters on the planet at the time. Broner? Again, another supremely talented guy. Hatton? Like Cotto a future hall of famer. Danny Garcia was on a short list of best light welters in the world when they fought...and still is actually.

Pulling off any of those would've been a pretty major upset. But there's no doubt he not only maximized what he had to work with -- he went above and beyond.

And by the way, he could've easily gotten the decision against Broner. Of course AB landed the clearer, more powerful shots, but Paulie was waaaayyy busier than Broner was that night.

                  Agree with this post 100%.

That's why it irks me when mother****ers come on here, and get on the case of boxers cut from the same cloth as Paulie, calling them trash and bums. Well ****, dedicating oneself to getting punched in the face for like 20 years makes a mofo a bum.

I also feel Paulie as a commentator. Doesn't talk just for the sake of it, gives his opinions and whether or not I agree with them, I like how he presents himself and his ideas.

Also, he overachieved like crazy. Despite being unable to bridge the talent gap, his hard work damn sure got close. Closer than most.
