    Relapse of Chechnya

I wish the Big O makes a financial $home-run because I can't see how he can win a desision in Russian controlled Azerbaijan. It's Chechnya all over again.

      Very underwhelming.

The WBA (World's Biggest Assclowns) would be ashamed of themselves if they had the ability to be ashamed.

Good, just get this junk over with. Inactive, old ass Oquendo gets blown to smithereens by 300 lb Ustinov. Ustinov could actually give a lot of the fringe guys problems with his size and strength. Depending on how the WBA situation plays out and who he would have to face, I could actually see him holding the belt for a little while

Word. While one of these guys is going to walk away with a title, I don't believe anyone will recognize them as a champion. Looking for Ustinov to spark an old as dirt Oquendo, and then we can hopefully forget any of this happened.

The WBA has been trying to get rid of as many interim titles as possible. Ustinov was Ortiz's mandatory and when Ortiz vacated, the WBA was trying to avoid crowning a new interim champion, so Ustinov was named as the mandatory to the world title after Oquendo and Briggs fought.

With Briggs out of the picture, Ustinov finally gets his opportunity. While nobody will take Oquendo vs. Ustinov winner seriously as the heavyweight champion of the world, nobody takes Joseph Parker seriously as the heavyweight champion of the world either.

So it is a step in the right direction that despite the proliferation of titles, everybody considers WBA/IBF champion Joshua the real champion and WBC champion Wilder the top contender.

Has anyone even fought for a world title after a 3 year layoff like Oquendo will be? This might be some boxing trivia question at some future date lol.

SRL was just shy of 3yrs off when he fought Hagler.

Anyone got any stats for how many titles the WBA had back 2 or 3 years ago now or whatever when they said they were getting rid of some of their belts & how many they still got today? Seems like a unsuccessful get rid of belts plan they've had to me, but its not like I'm tracking this or anything.

They have definitely got rid of some... it's just unfortunately they seem to also have managed to get themselves into positions where fighters are 'owed' title shots and thus they can't do it all fast enough.

Reckon Ustinov will beat Oquendo and then hold it until the WBA Super Champion comes along to scrap one of them.

The WBA has 30 world championships listed in the most recent ratings.

In October 2015, they had 44 world championships listed.

So they are definitely making progress. It just takes time to eliminate the titles without breaking previous promises or risking getting sued.
