  • Who was that old-timer who entered bars declaring, "I can knock out every single of you in here!", orders everyone a drink, then procedes to prove that he was really able to do what he said?

The name is at the tip of my tongue but for the life of me...

i forget the guys name, and im not sure if hes the one who did that, but i know it was a well known heavyweight before he well-known when he was like 14. he would go to bars and ask the tough guys to fight him to gain experience, almost all of them he layed out in one punch

woops didnt read those last couple posts, but is he the one he was young when he did it?

Much have been told about John L. Sullivan; some facts, a number of others embellishments...

One thing that can be said about the man though: he not only appears to have never walked away from a fight, he sought it like a junkie, it seems. And it looks like he cared none how old he was or how old his opponents were.

Edit: There's an apocryphal silly anecdote that went the rounds in bars late in John's life that says, he had KO'd the woman who helped his mother bring him to the world. The woman had smacked his behind, so he gave her one!

Another story went: John didn't cry when he emerged from his mother's womb. He asked for a drink!

                  • Well, I would say Jake LaMotta and Marvin Hagler for their durability and sheer toughness.
