Premier Boxing Champions is clearly struggling. The Andrzej Fonfara vs. Joe Smith Jr. card held on primetime NBC this past Saturday was a dud, scoring a 0.8 overnight rating by Sports Media Watch. This number is down 20% from PBC on NBC's previous telecast in April, which scored a 1.0, and down 39% from the show before that, which scored a 1.3 last December.

The 0.8 rating is the lowest of nine PBC telecasts which have been held on primetime TV by a major broadcast network. Not only that, but the rating ranks among the lowest ever for a sporting event on primetime broadcast television.
Yeah but you judge boxing based on OTHER Boxing or Combat Sports Ratings. For Boxing this is AVERAGE, for Free Network TV it is TERRIBLE!

Beyond just PBC I think Boxing IN GENERAL have a serious problem going into the future and trying to build a new fanbase going into the future. Young Demographics think boxing SUCKS and have ZERO INTEREST IN IT again Unless Mayweather or Pacquiao is INVOLVED!

Boxing In General is really not doing all that great other than Pacquiao on ESPN! Other than that all of the Ratings are coming back Average of Below Average!

its doing great in UK cause its promoted and marketed correctly. I know this wasnt ppv but the prices they charge stateside for a ppv is scandalous, no wonder people dont buy them.

Lets wait until the sales and profits from the Mayweather/Conor fight are added. I think PBC will have a profitable 3rd quarter.

Yes as you and Bigdummy keep reminding us. The problem is, it was a tough weekend for combat sports in general. HBO BAD was weak, UFC Glasgow did like 400K main card, 200 prelims. Sad af.

It just gets a little old after every.single.ratings.report. everyone has to come here and shout "PBC is dying!!!" "Boxing is dead!!!!!" "UFC taking over!!!!" "THE SKY IS FALLLIINNGGGG!!!!!"

It just ******. Bigdummy uses this card to say PBC is "struggling" when they have had the two biggest network boxing cards since the 90's in the last 12 months!!!! It's just ****** cherrpicking to support an agenda to bash Haymon and PBC whenever the opportunity presents itself..

yeah im just saying theres not a lot wrong with the product, its the way its marketed. Its human nature to have a thirst for this stuff, hand to hand combat has been entertainment for as long as history goes back.

Promoters should be getting these guys faces out there, they should be on talk shows, analysing other fights. I know someone like ward is boring (in my eyes) but theres literally no excuse for how few viewers that fight got, he should be on mainstream shows, doing interviews, getting his face out there. Its the promoters jobs to kick the fighters arse into doing these things. Casual fans arent going to care about fights between fighters theyve never heard of. They should be advertising these big fights non stop alongside other sports. Over here the adverts and hype is often interlinked with the football (soccer) and its a second sport for many people and part of the culture. You watch the football in the day, the boxing in the evening and then go out after.

And obviously theres too much politics with fighters stateside fighting under different promoters too, so many times i see about a prospective match up and people will say 'oh yeah that fights never gonna happen cause company A wont work with company B'. It makes it difficult for genuine rivalries to be built.

PBC is the only one putting out these cards on these networks so we either judge based on past PBC cards or we judge compared to other sporting events/programming. If we just stay in the PBC bubble this is hands down their worst ratings for FOX, CBS, NBC. Their previous worst drew a 0.8 overnight and 1.24M viewers. This drew a 0.7 overnight and 866K viewers almost 30% worst then their worst ever. So it's not avg if we grade on a curve which is PBC ratings. Now if you step back and have perspective to where this stacks up against all live sports on these networks it's HISTORICALLY bad. That's not hyperbole the 0.8 1.24M viewers was ONE OF THE WORST RATINGS EVER for a primetime sporting event. And this just blew that out the water. The worst UFC on FOX card in their history did double these ratings.

It's not a good look for FOX or PBC to continue to air cards like this. And the folks who keep thinking that PBC is going to get a TV deal are nuts. PBC literally spent millions of dollars to buy air time to waste it on cards that are drawing some of the worst ratings in history that lose tons of money. And you think in a few months when the FOX time buy deal expires they are going to waste their own money on this mess? FOX only aired PBC in the first place because they paid them countless millions to do so. It makes no business sense for FOX or anyone else to pay for PBC which is a business dumpster fire.

HBO saw a bump in ratings this weekend from their previous 2 Boxing After Dark cards this year PBC just set alltime lows in the history of broadcast you simple phuk boy. See the difference? anything PBC releases will be biggest in ratings since the 90's or whatever because these networks haven't aired boxing in that long. That don't mean it's successful. Being the tallest midget don't mean you are actually tall. You are right in this year alone we saw NBC, ESPN, and Spike end their relationship with PBC and FOX who has WORST ratings then NBC just aired one of the worst ratings in history when they are just months away from their time buy deal being up. You right PBC ain't struggling these are the goal posts for a successful company not one that lost over half a billion with nothing but shyt ratings to show for it. There is no shot FOX is giving them a tv deal and Haymon knows it which is why he sending them crap fights just to finish out the time buy.
