People rolled their eyes when Willie Monroe Jr. told them that Andre Ward would stop Sergey Kovalev in their rematch last month. Ward indeed defeated Kovalev by eighth-round technical knockout June 17 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The middleweight contender has another unpopular prediction for HBO Pay-Per-View's next main event. Monroe thinks Canelo Alvarez will stop Gennady Golovkin when they square off September 16 in Las Vegas.

Willie sounds like he knows what he's talking about. That might be the most articulate breakdown I've ever heard from a boxer. I don't know if I agree with an Alvarez KO, but I've been leaning towards a Canelo win for a while now. This is going to be a great fight.

It's hilarious that you think canelo will gas when he's been fighting real competition for yrs & as such is used to going 12 rds. unlike gigi whos been fighting no hopers & gasses after rd 6. Even vs Jacobs he was completely gassed out & resorted to strictly headhunting because hed get pieced up every time he traded. Its ludicrous to act like canelo supposedly gasses & gigi dont. Gigi has only gone 12 once,& he ****** ass,as soon as he fought a credible actual mw.
