yea I wonder what people are thinking when they suggest that their fighter simply "rough up" Mayweather
Cotto and Maidana had success because Mayweather fought them flat-footed
they were both supposed to be look-good opponents..... as a result, Cotto was an excellent fight and Maidana had much more success than expected..... but Chino was a cherry-pick gone wrong
Mayweather thought that Cotto was old/slow, and he saw how easily Devon Alexander outboxed Maidana..... they were supposed to be showcase fights as Floyd wound down his career, Chino was supposed to be Floyd's "Gatti" at 147
..... Mayweather easily handled Chino when he boxed on his toes in the rematch
Mayweather is the best fighter I have ever seen at not getting "roughed up"..... his entire ethos/style (and usually, gameplan) is based around not getting "roughed up"
but ok, make that your plan-A, and..... good luck
the success that Cotto and Maidana enjoyed required Floyd to play along
Mayweather was talking absolute bollocks yesterday when he said that McGregor holds all the advantages
